O.k. to get myself back on topic and to learn a little could someone explain the difference in performance of the various Busse knife handles. I seem to prefer the E handles on both small and large blades. Is it merely a preference thing or are some handles designed for specific jobs? Just trying to learn, learn, learn. Thanks. :)

i was browzing my knives today as i need to send some to a couple of sheath makers for pants.

i looked through all my 6" +/- blades and when i came to the ergo outlaw it felt so good i chose it as one of my "go to the grave" keepers.

ergos are great and if you were to take a regular ergo and put a small palm swell in it i think it would be even better.

but they are awesome as is!

peace, love, and good will to all busse members.
xoxoxox kisses and hugs for you all
think infi, knives, and more knives, infi
keep zardoz out of your mind, or you will go blind.

Skunk,

Could you explain a little about the palm swell and its benefit? Does it reduce hot spots? Better grip? Is that something I would have to send to the shop to have done? Does any one have a pic of this or even a comparison pic of an E handle with and with out? Thanks.

well it fills the hollow spot in the palm of your hand, if you have an ergo take some foam and tape or just tape and wrap it around the middle and make a lil thinker spot. add and subtract till it is "more ergo"

if you hold your knife hand out and cup it like to hold a couple of tablespoons of whisky. that is the spot that you want to fill.

it should give you a better feeling, more contact grip on the handle.

maybe we should raise some hell over here while everybody is looking at walking mans thread :p :p  :D

I have a ZTNO that I want to get re-handled eventually. Something with large palm swells is definitely in the offing....

Seeing as the Ergo series is different from the Fusion series, can you even send them into the shop to have the handles changed?

If so, was there ever a magnum handle for the E series or would this be a custom job that could cost more than the knife? Scott, Garth, Jerry, any info would be helpful.

Rick,

Just send it to me and I'll get right on that.
My turn around time is "2 weeks". :p

Now I see. Thanks skunk. The E handles feel great to me so far but I see what you are talking about. I am itching to try some of the Fusion type handles. Like the Fusion NO.

I have looked into this and essentially the answer is "No". If the knife in question has handles similar to the knife in production, okay. This is how "Peter La" got his SFNO rehandled with magnums (same SF style as the Hell Razor). Garth told me that the CNC programming for both the straight/rope and the Ergo handles was no longer available.

Ronybear (I think) has shown us a couple examples of his customized knives and they have induced seriously drooling. As I recall, Reese Weiland did some of the work we saw. I don't think the cost would be prohibitive but I haven't given it serious thought.

Another reason I like the E handles... If I put my BA-E in my Okuden sheath and take the teklok off it I can easily just slip the whole rig into my front jean pockets comfortably. Nice and slim.

I've done this many times. You can even carry it IWB without it being uncomfortable.
I've done the same thing with a NO-E in an Okuden sheath. A little bulkier and certainly longer but still not too bad.

I have several Ergo's and even earlier ones feel different than the later ones. Slightly different contours. Even the ones that have polished spines have a different feel due to more material having been removed.
On my field carry NO-E has even more radiused micarta due to a wood file I took to it. :)
I don't have giant bear paws so swells aren't that comfy for me. The mags on the new knives feel nice but it's a bit much for me.
I think that's why there's an option now. For some it's the greatest thing and for others like me, we like the standard better.
Of course for collectors you have to have both. Multiples of both. In different colors. Yeah, that's it.

good point and also there was no limited edition NO produced either.

Skunk,

I think you should make this priority one.
Oh and "Git-R-done"
