I am new to Busse and kin knives. I have seen a couple of Noss's destruction test and I was AMAZED! Being somewhat of a Prepper I can more than appreciate the durability. And it does seem like I have been bitten. It is not my intent to start a war here but this is something I really need to know. I am assuming the Busse and kin are: Busse, Swamp Rat, and Scarp Yard. I am interested in how this kinship came in to being. Just the broad strokes or point me a post where I can read about it. I am pretty sure Busse is the only one to use INFI, but then again I am not sure. Everyone claims to be the best, but just how does it shake out?

Thanks in advance.

Jerry Busse created Busse Combat. Then his wife, Jennifer Busse, created Swamp Rat Knife Works and later on, Jerry's brother, Dan Busse, came out with Scrap Yard Knives. There have been some Busse-kin (Swamp and Scrap) that used INFI and I can't remember which or both or which models.

Busse Combat - Jerry Busse - Collectors are Hogs
Swamp Rat - Jennifer Busse - Collectors are Rats
Scrap Yard - Dan Busse - Collectors are Dogs

All are one big family and all get along as family (That care about each other, none of that in-laws kind of "love" lol. :) Welcome to the forums btw

I couldn't have said it better myself Bryan.

Welcome to the Forums lostslusters. If you haven't been bitten yet, it's sure to happen soon ;)

As far as I know, Scrap Yard has used INFI in a few models being :

Street Scrapper 4, Scrapper 5 LE & SE, War Dog

The only Swamp Rat release that was INFI was a mistake actually, and it was called the INFIcoot.

Swamp Rat uses strictly SR-101 for steel where-as Scrap Yard has been known to use anything that they can get for a good price that fits their performance to price ratio. They have used SR-77 (mainly in their early releases), SR-101 (more so lately) and INFI when they get scrap from Busse Combat.

Please feel free to school me on this guys if I've got anything wrong here...;)

Scrapyard has also used 154CM in the Muk, birddog, weinerdog and mud puppy and ELMAX in the Srapmax 340, 375 & 460.

Swamprat had the hairy carry (sp?) in 154CM and also a handful in D2

Busse used A2 before INFI, and had one in SR-101, the taliwhacker, before swamprat was created. Also the original Basics in m-INFI

Welcome to the forums. Do not worry no matter which member of the Busse family you go with you will be just fine.

I agree. The warranties are outstanding too (not that you are likely to need them)!

INFI is definitely the most rust-resistant of any of the Busse steels (except maybe the few models that used 154CM or ATS34, or the new Elmax steel).
