This has the slotted screws.

Is this knife infi. It has been polished by previous owner.

It can be, no way to say for sure as A2 SHSHIIs were made with slotted screws as well.

Sending it to the shop for verification is the best way to confirm the steel type, else you can try a gun blue pen, make a mark on the blade edge grind, if the blue sticks then you have A2.

now there's a trick i've never heard before. Can you explain why that works?
 
Ha! Almost got that one, Good buy at what you got it for, that's less than a basic FSH and its old school. I would have garth DC it

Even if it is A2 steel, you got a GREAT buy on that - congratulations! The old straight handle as found on the SHSHII & SHBM is still one of my favorite Busse handle styles ever made (I realize this is subjective, depending on each person's hand size and shape).

Outstanding buy there! That is one pretty SHSH2! Like everyone has said so far, INFI or A2 its a great knife. :)
