I just went to busse's web page I saw nothing that rang my bell. I like Tanto point knives. If Busse makes one and I didn't see it someone please direct me to it.

RB,
Glad you took a look at the Busse Website. The closest thing to a Tanto that Busse currently offers is the Killer B. This is actually more of the Original Tanto before it took on its Americanized version that is currently offered by many knife manufacturers.

What are your intended uses? There are many Busse knives that will easily out-perform any Tantos that are currently available.

Not to my knowledge. It's what I LIKE. Tanto points are tough. I'm not saying It beats any other knife point or design I've just had good luck with them.

Cold Steel makes a variety of tanto designs. Perhaps you might have some luck with those.

Good luck in your search.

Yes they do. In my Opinion the recon tanto is one hell of a knife, but this forum is for busse knives so goodbye and thanks for your suggestions.

RB,
I'm still very curious what kind of uses you are planning for the knife. If you aren't familar with INFI it is an extremely tough steel, and I'm sure it will prove more than sufficient for anything you could do to it.

I understand looking for a particular design that has proven itself to you in the past. However, generally Busses are more for performance than aesthetics. If you can't do it with a Busse than it probably can't be done with a knife.

If you would like to give us some more info and a little insight into your uses and abilities I'm sure we can suggest some suitable models.

However, depending on your application, other knives may suit the purpose far better. My Busses are completely outperformed in the kitchen by a simple $25 santoku kitchen knife I picked up 20 years ago, for example.

I don't think the santoku would be very good at chopping down trees, though.

All depends on what you are after.

What are the busse knives designed for? I'm not attacking busse so all of you that want to start trash talking take a seat. The ads I've looked at in magazines say combat knives. What determains that a knife is a combat knife?

Running Bear, I'm with you on the tanto design, it's one of my favorites. While Busse doesn't have a standard model in the lineup with a tanto, they can sure make it for you.

If you interested, and have some ideas that you would love to have on a knife, Marc Fratello the Custom Shop Director could most likely get a knife made exactly to your specs.

You can contact him via email or phone, he's a great guy and will be glad to talk through some stuff with you.

Running Bear,

You seem a little worked up over this. Having done a search under your name, it seems that you only post on the ATC forum. Having read your posts over there I don't see any of this aggressiveness except in the case of BFH's post concerning his Busse Knife. You then post this,

"Sorry Andy, Blueflinthawk just won't let it go! Go to the busse forum. I will remain silent no more. Fire away all you busse knives are god people! Suzanne send a REALLY BIG SHIPMENT OF MEDICATION! I'm gonna need it." -- Running Bear

What is this post supposed to mean? Who are you posting for and what is your motivation?

I'm also hoping that Jerry comes out with another tanto knife. I think I saw a tanto Busse in the past. It may have been a custom or something. Or maybe I was imagining it. Oh well, I still hope to see a tanto Busse; wishful thinking.

Jerry made a couple variants with Tanto points, maybe
somebody has pics.:)
