Anyone else watch Fox news from 7pm-9pm?

If so think back no more than two weeks ago when they did a report on the next generation airport screeners. Can't remember if it was on the Fox Report or O'Reilly Factor, but definately one of them. After going over all the advancements with the new technology, they were pointing out some of the loop holes...especially with certain synthetic materials. Low and behold what does a TSA official pull out as an example...yep you guessed it a Busse Stealth Hawk, which according to him costs $100. Silly man, doesn't realize he's got a $250 collector's item, lol :) He mentioned Busse Combat by name during the initial demonstration of how the screening machine picks up an object smear but nothing to set off the alarm. Afterwards several other companies were mentioned selling "several other clear dangers to airline security".

Anyone else see it?

Wish I had seen that one. Someone ought to send them a little letter to let them know said item is out of production. Wouldn't want Jerry to get a bad wrap.

All of this Non-Metal nonsense doesn't exuse the fact that the TSA security allowed a dozen METAL box cutters on to four planes.:barf: I also seem to remember about two weeks ago a college kid getting them past security again and being able to stash them on mulitple planes.:barf: Airport security is a joke always has been always will be, we are suckers for punishment.:grumpy:

I don't think of it so much as airport security but rather airline public relations. We are no safer on an airplane today than before 9/11. If anything the bad guys have become more creative. The government needs to do something to get the public flying again. Weapons can be made on board an airplane just like they are made in prisons. If we want to make flying truly safer we would have to remove all glass, plastics, metals etc. from airplanes and be forced to fly naked (hey maybe not such a bad idea?) ;)

I think "Hooter's Airline" may have already taken your idea!

IMHO, just about the deadliest thing you can have is a wire coat hanger, and it will be about the last thing they ban before clothes. Just some minor modifications, and you have a quite effective shank - much better than a razor blade, box cutter, or small folder.

Yep, or something with no modifications necessary that usually doesn't raise any suspicion at all - a metal Cross pen. Why do think policemen use 'em?!

I read somewhere that a big time martial artist carries a roll of quarters & a bandana & that makes a formitable weapon?

Somebody here on BFC said it very succinctly:
"Never confuse the weapon you have with the weapon you are."

... and one of my old taglines from a long time ago:
"It's not what's in a man's hand that makes him dangerous. It's what is in his heart and mind. The rest is just his tools of choice."

... or stated slightly differently:
"In all the history of mankind there has only ever been one weapon - intent of the human mind. Everything else is a matter of picking up what's handy."

Improvised weapons are everywhere. Open your imagination's eye and you'll find them easily.

(edited to add) As a note of interest, I recently passed through "up close & personal" inspections at an airport with a roll of duct tape, 100 ft of paracord, a ferrocium rod, kleenex & other paper items, and other potentially dangerous items in my carry-on bag. All I would have needed was intent, I already had plenty of the necessary materials with me... ;)

An acquanitance of mine swears by a cue ball and a tube sock (you do the math) for airline travel.

That said, RokJok... good post. Another pertinent quote follows:

"This is the law. The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain, all else is supplemental." - Steinbeck
