I have been looking at the Busse Narural Outlaw and wounderd what you all thought of it? and if there is any other knives I should think about. what about the SJ? it will be used mostly for a "utility" camp knife I have looked at the fallkniven A1 but I do not like it as much as the NO. the other thing is about the blade thicknes, is 1/4inche to thick to do smaller tasks like food prep and other little things? I will have a folding knife with me most of the time too. any way I really like this knife and I have only heard good things about Busse!

Ajester,
Welcome to the Busse Forum, stick around these guys will let you know what they think ;)

I think the NO is a great knife and an especially good compromise between large and small blades. As a camp knife I would stick with the NO or go to the Steel Heart rather than the SJ. The NO and SH will be better if you need to do any real chopping.

1/4" thickness will work just fine for food prep and any other jobs you will encounter around the camp.

You really won't go wrong with a Busse. However, you may want to look at the Steel Heart a little closer before you decide, mainly since you will also be carrying another smaller knife(folder).

The Natural Outlaw is the perfect compromise knife-not to big for delicate work (sounds funny using delicate and a Busse knife in the same sentence!), and PLENTY big for the tough chores. Without a doubt it`s the Busse I always grab when heading outdoors.
Just my opinion,
John

The NO is a great knife. I traded mine because my hands and the E handle didn't get along, but that's just me. It will handle anything you throw at it, and make a great camp knife that carries well, but I'd pair it up with a smaller, thinner fixed blade for fine work and food prep, like a Camillus Talon, or Trace Rinaldi's Gambit-my favorites. Folders are for the city:p

I have thought about the Steel Heart but I was thinking it might be to big to cary most of the time. but i would like to know what you think about that! and do you notice a difference in carying the NO or the SH? thanks for all the info I have goten so far I know I will get a lot more

Ajester, The NO would make a great camp knife, but if
your not going to do any heavy work, I would get the
Satin Jack. I like the handle on the SJ, so I'm prejudiced. And I wouldn't overlook the Badger either.;) Heck, any of them would make
a great camp knife. I ain't much help, am I??:D

Welcome to the Busse forum! :D

he NO is a great knife. It's got plenty of power for light chopping chores and the design is compact enough for easy carry. I used to carry one daily, but switched to a Badger only for easier concealed carry. Besides that I would still be with the NO.

p.s. - If you are ever in the market for something smaller, check out the Busse Bad Apple, great knife!!!

The N.O. seems to carry easier than the SH-the extra length of the SH makes it harder to conceal (if that is a concern of yours) I carry my N.O. in a Bladetech kydex sheath when in the field, but switch to a Kenny Rowe S.O.B. sheath when in the city-the N.O. just seems to dissapear when using this rig.

The NO is a great knife, and also quite beautiful. I usually take that or my straight handle SH II as my main utility knife on trips/expeditions. But I don't agree that it isn't too thick for fine or kitchen chores. I think it is a bit too thick for that, so I usually have another for that - usually a Blackwood hunter in talonite or stellite.
If you wanted a little more versatilty, the ZT's etc probably are a good idea, and I was considering that myself. Inasmuch as they are infi, they'll chop great too.

well I have made up my mind it will be teh NO I really like this knife and you all seem to think it is good so now all I have to do is save up my money. :D

A seperate thread has been started re the sheaths: I posted there. [alert the media :)]
