....And the winner is Busse! What would you oinkers rank as second and third place in the blade catagory? If you have to, pretend INFI has'nt been invented yet.
Lycosa

I would rate hard use knives as follows:

Busse
Scrapyard
SwampRat
Falkniven
Fehrman
Reeves A2
Ranger

I'd put Reeves up one notch. He makes S30V soft enough that it doesn't chip so badly. And I just like his designs more.

Outside the three Busse lines, I mainly have Spydercos, Bucks, and Beckers.

I also like Bark River Knives, though I only own one presently.

productions other than busse:

emerson
chris reeve
strider

customs other than busse:

lightfoot
marzitelli
fujisaka

This is tough

outside Busse Combat Group

Production: Fehrman, Fallkniven,
Custom: David Wesner of Kelsey Creek, Matt Bailey, Raid Ops (only because he can't make blades over 6")

I forgot Bark River. That is exactly right. They would be my #1 after the Busse knives and as far as design they'd be #2 over all including Busse knives before Swamp Rat.:foot:

I would have to include Bark River as well. I like some of the designs although many felt a bit unsafe for my usage due to the lack of any guard/indentation between the grip and laser sharp cutting edge. ie. Northstar. Incredibly sharp, convex grinds.

In the hard use category, I would toss David Wesner, Okuden and Bill Siegle's blades too.

+1 on Okuden, hard use sheaths and knives. I picked up an Ammo Daddy user for cheap at a gun show, and it's surprised me the most out of all my FBs (considering what I paid). Yeah what a steal :D

Dark-Ops :p

Seriously, if we are talking fixed, I am impressed with the RD line from Justine of Ranger Knives. I have been curious about Fehrman and Trident knives.

bark river and bill seigle, for design and material usage. :D

i would still own a lot of himalayan imports. not so much because they are "the best", but more because they are low cost for what you get. if busse hadn't been here, I would have had to look to other sources of extreme abuse blades.

I probably would have gone with s7 for the chopper, not necessarily because its "the best", if swamp rats 52100 was available I'd have gone with that, but I don't think anyone has dedicated their time to makeing 52100 chip resistant as much as swamp rat.

I have heard good things from 1095 for SUPER high hardness super thin slicers....

so ya. bark river, bill seigle, himalayan imports or pure customs. (the above is for actually using the knives hard. I'd love to have a brend, hossom, beggs, fogg, dervish, and others, but I wouldn't necesssarily use them where concrete is present)

After the Busse family I would say Ranger knives without a doubt.

I'd have to throw my Dietmar Kressler in there as a great EDC.

Yeah, like I would carry the Kressler gent's knife. It's so far back in the safe it may be growing mushrooms by now.

oh ya, tramontina makes great machete's, and gransfors bruks makes great axes.

you kinda have to go with them anyways since busse doesn't make them.

phil wilson was the maker I was thinking of for super high hardness slicers...

with all the money I'd have saved, I'd probably be making knives myself by now
