I have not posted on this forum, but have owned quite a few Busse's.Today I purchased another Battle Mistress(older straight handle)never used, beautiful polished blade, grooved handle w/hollow pins(new style currently used). It came with a woven paracord D-Guard(which is actually pretty sturdy)about 3/4" wide and the thickness of paracord. My question is the dealer who sold this to me said it came from the factory like that and is now offered as an option from Busse,is this true? Even if is not true,it is still really cool. I wish I were able to post a picture.

At the Knob Creek show Dave had some blades at the table with the paracord gaurds. They were a really nice addition, especially for a chopper like the BM. I believe he had a guy doing them at the show. Aparently it requires about 10' of cord.
I would definately like to get one for my BM-E and the AP Ltd. Bolo, but I'm almost certain that the knife needs to be available to weave it to the talon holes.

Maybe Dave can shed some light on these for us. Otherwise it would be nice if someone could describe the kind of weave so we can do it at home

Dave introduced me to the guy who wove those guards at the KCR. He charged $25 if memory serves. I don't remember his name and didn't get his contact information, since I wasn't interested. My thoughts were that it doesn't do anything to protect your hand, and if I need to have an extra length of paracord in case of emergencies, I can always wrap some around my handle or around my kydex sheath, running it through the holes to secure it. I think the reason some Busse owners like it is simply that it looks cool to them. To each his own.
