Well actually this is an ignorance problem. I just bought this amazing Fusion Battle Mistress. It is absolutely my favorite chopper. However I am going to have a sheath made for it and I am not sure about some of the particulars to tell the sheath maker. I was told the knife was bought at Knob Creek last year. I know that the handle is G10 but I am not sure if they are mags or not. Also it is .27" thick but I am not sure about the grind. Any help would be appreciated.

Can't say for sure since the picture angle isn't the best, but those sure look like Magnum handles to me :). It would be best to send the maker your knife so the sheath is made specifically for it which ensures the best fit.

it is a full height flat grind fat fusion battle mistress (ffbm), i believe. the combat grade fbm's had the bevels, though this could be one w/o them. its also a bit thicker than the original run (.25").

look like mags, but we need a spine shot to be certain.

Looks like a full height flat grind, and magnum hand shaped handles... BUT if you could post a "spine pic" that shows the handle from above, that would help to be sure. :)

(MORIMOTOM beat me to it! :D:thumbup:)

agree:thumbup:

It should be around .320". Its flat ground, and most likely has magnum handles.

I do know it is .27" thick. I used calipers to check. It is a little bigger than a 1/4 but smaller than the FFBM which I believe is .30

Not much help as everyone else has it covered, but that's an amazing color combo. I'm jealous.

I love it, the smooth handles are taking a minute to get used to, but it is great. I will get some pics of it in action so the real beauty can be seen. I am wondering what is the difference between a full flat grind and anything else?

The Saber grind makes for a more blade heavy blade. My only experience with a flat ground FBM was the FBM LE which seemed to have a neutral balence, the FFBM was a monster with its saber grind, very hefty knife.

I bet, this thing is lighter than my KZ2 but it out chops it. It bits really deep and looks good doing it. hehehe. and with the Blaze orange it is the perfect hunting knife. I will have to go kill a bear with it and post the pics.

My friends thought I was crazy when I brought my CG ASH-1 hunting with me last year, then they saw my FFBM near the end of buck season and really thought I was nuts. This year the B11 will ride on my pack.

What you have there is a rare Knob Creek special .... I have one but it is done in Satin and black linen micarta .... they seem to use the old FBM LE blanks which were flat ground and not sabre ground like the FFBM's .... yours is .27 and so is mine but yours has the much rarer hand smoothed G10 magnum grips for the Fusion handles .... rare to see them on a FBM as they usually get put on the NMFBM .... and yours has been painted black .... which is rare to find the flat grinds being painted as a lot of work has to go into the grind to make it flat so finishing the blade to a satin finish is usually done.

If you ever needed to strip the knife I think you would get a good finish under the paint .... and your hand shaped G10 mags are probably the most comfortable grip Busse do in the Fusion series .... so it will make a great user

Here is a pic of mine .... I had to smooth my grips but am a great believer in users having a smooth finish ....

Thanks Peter, you are right, the gips are very comfy. I have to watch out with slipping though. So basically it is kind of rare and I will have to send it away to get a sheath made. It is a user, well I use it so when the finish starts to go I will strip it.

Oh, baby!

Then its like the 2008 SE's. Very cool indeed. Kinda the best of all worlds.

and you'll be saving almost 10 ounces off your back. B11 is light!

sweet knife man!

If you picked that one up off of Gregb then it is definitely .27 full height flat grind with
smoothed magnum g10. Very nice piece I got to handle it personally:)
Congrats!

If it's for leather, the sheathmaker may have an equivalent battle mistress with mags. However, even if they have something close but not quite right on it may still be worth sending the knife to them to make sure the fit is proper. For kydex, unless it's an identical knife I'd send it in. Proper fitting and retention is critical with kydex and often takes some knife specific tweaking for customs and variants.

Exactly what I was trying to say in my post above, just clearer. If you're looking for a kydex sheath definiely send it in.

Yes I agree about sending it in if you want kydex too .... unusual spec's benefit from a custom fitting ....

If the handle feels a little slippy .... say in the rain or if there is any snow .... usually in the Northern hemisphere there is a pine or ever green tree nearby .... on all of them there are little bubbles on the trunk of sap .... even in pretty cold weather .... pop one with the point of the knife and rub a little sap onto your handle .... it easy washes off in hot soap and water .... but if chopping for many hours in the rain it gives a great solid sticky grip if you need it .... I had an ebony handle Issue Khukri for many years and building hides in the rain this was a good tip passed on to me as this could get slippy ....

It is the old one from Greg, Which by the way is a great guy and the deal went flawlessly. But anyway I am looking to put this thing to the test this fall with camping and hunting. I have decided by carrying this one and not my NMSFNO or Fallkniven A1 I am benefitting my self by getting extra Physical Training with the added weight. I will send pics next year and my right arm will be massive and the rest of me... well not so much. I do love this knife and am still getting over the USER factor. I every few days I go outside and chop something just to keep me doing it. It is a beautiful knife for sure.
