Busse Progression

Here's a question for you compulsive Busse buyers. :D

Was there a size progression to your purchases? Did you start off with a small Busse, only to get a terrible craving for larger and larger ones? Or did you start of with a BM and simply fill in the gaps for smaller chores? Did you start off with a medium, and then rationalize that you need one for the big jobs and one for the small stuff?

All I have is an Natural Outlaw on order, and I'm already thinking that I might want a Satin Jack and Paul's Hatchet to split up the work.

This is scary. I've never even held a Busse, and I'm already contemplating ordering two more!!!!

Buzz,
Good question.
My first was a Basic 9, then I picked up a BM on the for sale forums and sold the Basic, thinking that I would need only one Busse(wrong;))

I kind of lost track after that but think it was either a Police Recruit or a DWMS, its been down hill since then ;):D

Initially I was trying to cover my Bases with the Large and Small knives. But after I'd held a few I just gave up and bought whatever I had money for ;):D

I originally wanted a Battle Mistress, but bought a Badger Attack first because I knew they were going to be discontinued and I rationalized that I would use a smaller blade more often. A few weeks later I bought a Battle Mistress, and three days ago I bought an Assault Shaker. I've got the hots right now for a Satin Jack. The Badger Attack is going into mothballs, as I want to keep it pristine. ;) I finally took my Battle Mistress out yesterday and broke it in by chopping up a bunch of wood in my friend's backyard. I plan to rip out a wooden deck with it in the not too distant future (a job that the Badger Attack was originally contemplated to attack). Got to get the battle scars...:D Down the road I plan to get a triple ground Battle Mistress.

My 1st was an AfterShock Bolo, after that I got them all.

Now I have a few, I'm trying to breed them.

The Satin Jack is a great one to get next along with the Paul's Hatchet.

Good luck.:D

Guess my "progression", if you want to call it that has been toward larger knives.
Started out with a Basic 5, followed by a NO. Both great knives, the 5 was perfect for keeping in the truck, and for carrying when need be. The NO was a great medium knife, which is what I thought I wanted. Loved the knife, but found myself at a loss for what to do with it most of the time (that was before I got back into camping regularly, and if I don't use something regularly...it's gone-don't know why, but I can't stand for stuff to just sit there, no matter how great I might think it is). Sold it-and regret that decision, now:(
I got a Basic 3 somewhere along the line, and liked it, but really didn't have much use for a smaller version of the 5 I already owned-sold it.
Now I've got a Basic 9 that has already seen a good bit of use, and is going to get alot more this week, since I've got a new "project" to work on...hehehe:D
I love the Basic 9, and now I want a BM with a handle like the variants I've been seeing. Guess I know what I'll be looking for at Blade Show (while hoping such a creature exists). I'd like to see a new Badger Attack with that handle, too, for use as a heavy duty beater that I'd probably like even more than the Basic 5.
It's the big knives that are really drawing my attention now, though.
Do I need some BM variant to replace the Basic 9? No..but, I sure do want to try one.
Besides, a tax return's coming, and somehow it's changed from, "I can use that", to "I NEED that!". Uh-oh.
I'm done for, but in good company;)

Bought a Mean Street Apprentice and ordered a Steel Heart the same day. Then found 2 matte Police Recruits for $100 each. Then came the LMS', Badgers, DWMS, and I can't remember what the sequence is now.

I do want either a Basic 9 (and may have a line on a new one ;)) or a Battle Mistress at a reasonable price...

Mike

Started with a Badger, then Steel Heart, then bounced all over the place:D

Interesting question :)
I've started with BM & MS. Kindda from both ends. Then All the eHandles together, then old SHs, then variants, then, then...
And now waiting for couple more variants... Size doesn't really matter, Busse knives are all sooo goood :D

Same here Uncle. Started out ordering a Battle Mistress, then a Mean Street, then a Basic 5, then a Police Recruit;)
No rhyme or reason really, it mostly came down to what looked "neccesary" at the time;)

Started in the middle with a SH-E. Bounced up and down since then, currently headed into collectible territory with a striaght handle 5/16 BA.

I've already posted once on this thread but thought of something I wanted to add.

Initially I tried to cover my bases with large and small knives. Then I wanted to get a couple that I didn't have that were currently in production. Since then I have determined that they hold their value(or increase) so well that I would buy some as keepers, I've got enough users. This is currently what I've been doing, keeping most of my users but buying others specifically as collectibles. However, even these collectibles I wouldn't have any hesitation to use if the need arose. :D:D
