Does anyone use a Busse Satin Jack for a heavy duty mide sized blade I am looking for some feedback for a purchase. I like the looks of the knife and know that it will be a performer(it is a Busse). Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan Huff

Hoodoo has one, and speaks very highly of it. I have found him to be a super reliable source of info, if Hoodoo says its good, than it is.\

Thanks, for the rplies so far guys. I want to get the Satin Jack, and will also look into the Becker line.

Keep the rreplies coming.

Thanks,

Aloha Dan,
I have 2 Satin Jacks, a ZT, and a Combat Grade. I love them. The ZT arrived scary, wicked sharp. They are built like all Busse knives, like a brick outhouse. I do have to say that it is not a small knife, with an overall length of 11 inches or so. The knurled linen micarta that makes up the handle is way grippy so that it will not slide around if you have wet hands. One observaton that I have is that the handle is rather long. I have medium sized hands, and there always seems to be a lot of handle sticking out at the end as I grasp it. The blade is long and much more narrow than other Busse knives. The best way to describe its appearance and feel is that it looks like a Mean Street that was blown up and stretched a little bit ...a Mean Street for a Paul Bunyan sized guy. Its a great knife. I have not had the opportunity to really give it a work out. It does not seem to be as good a chopper as the similar sized Natural Outlaw, or the Badger Attack. I would agree that it would be the most ideal camping knife in the Busse line up, if you are not going to chop and build a lean-to. Consider the NO if that is what you want to do. They are all great knives! If you get one, I assure you that you will love it. I am sure that I speak for a lot of other Busse owners.....beware, once you own one Busse, you will be looking to get another (and another...)

Hey Dan,
Hows it going?
Love the Camillus,
I just got a Becker Brute and its quite a blade for the bucks.
I cut down an apple tree with it without breaking a sweat!
The knife didn't break a sweat, I was sweating like a pig.
Made no impression on the Brute.
Like it a lot.
Would also love to have a satin Jack some day. When I can get square with the idea of spending three bills a knife. Whew!
Take care,

Chandler

Wabi, I should have talked to you in the first place. It sounds like this knife will be right for me. I ahve large hands, so it will probably fit well. Thank you for the advice.

Chandler, glad to hear the CQB1 is working out for you. What a great knife design(Bob did great work with her). I am taking a look at the Brute for a larger camp knife. I feel your pain on chopping down trees. I had to remove two large white pin trees out of my back yard at thought I was going to die(needless to say, I was dumb enough to do this in the middle of July, the hottest and most humid month down here in Indianer) but my chainsaw and knives I think enjoyed it:D

Thank you for the responses.

I have both the Natural Outlaw and the Satin Jack. I just posted the SJ for sale on KF because I prefer the feel and size of the handle on the NO. If there's any way you could hold both before you buy it might make a difference to you. The length of the handle might work for you but the circumference may not. I haven't used the SJ for anything and maybe my preference would change if I did, but for now the NO wins by vote.

Mark, thanks for the information. Busse is supposed to have a table at a Gun show in Indy very soon. I hope that they wil have both on hand to see first hand the feel that each one has.

Thanks,

Dan Huff
