do they ever have any for sale or any at all? i'm not much for displaying and showing off my collections, i use them, hard. so Busse seconds would be great. just wondering if anyone heard of any?
thanks

Busse, the company, does not sell seconds. If you are looking for something at less than original cost, you'll probably have to find a well-beaten user on the exchange here or at a few other forums. However, be aware that many users may actually bring a used price higher than the original price from Busse due to the knife being highly desirable and no longer available.

It's really a mixed bag that requires a little bit of research on your part. I would first look at a lot of the different Busse models and pick a few that you think you may like. Then learn everything you can about those particular knives. As part of that process, you might consider getting to know some folks with Busse knives to the point where all parties would feel comfortable with you trying a knife out for the cost of shipping or a beer. ;) That will give you some first-hand experience with a few knives. And then when you settle on what you're looking for, you'll already hopefully have a good idea of where to look, what you'll pay, and how long your search may take.

There were some seconds of the B11 at Blade for a great price.
I believe the grinds were uneven, but a pure cosmetic issue:thumbup:

I would guess that a company like Busse would not want SECONDS out there to tarnish there stellar reputation for quality and durability.I know if I were Mr. Busse knowing the demand for my knives any sub-standard knives would never leave the shop and would be destroyed before they hit the scrap bin.

Both true but an asymmetrical grind that's truely asymmetrical due alcohol is

You can get Busse seconds through the custom shop. Do you really think some of those grinds were done on purpose? When I see ones like this I think someone in the shop said "ooooppss, now how can I fix this one?" :D

Some one beat me to the Basic 11 DrunkenAsymetrical grinds.

Also, really, the Sar5's were "seconds" in that they ran the wrong design, and before Jerry sobered up, there was a bunch of them done. They listed at a very very low price, on the condition that anyone who complained about them at the price would be a jerk etc.....

Those ones were a steal of a deal.

The Thick Nicks were also a mistake run. They were not supposed to be run with that thick of stock, and I believe were let go at a very affordable price (not so much now if you can find one).

The old Zero Tolerance knives were the result of a grinding error, and sold at a bargain price. Course, they're not cheap any more...

Adding to the comments above, this is a great time to buy a Busse. The resale market is flooded, and choices abound. Take some time to learn a little about the many models, ask us for advice, wait for a bargain on the Exchange, or post a WTB. Buy one, try it, if you decide it's not the one, you can probably sell it for about the same you paid, less postage.

Seconds is what you get when you show up to the Busse table a little too late at a blade show! :D
