I posted this in the Busse Section as well

My friend Charles and I took out 3 Busses and a Few Siegles to test this Saturday Morning

The Busse's

I brought this one

We tested the Busses first

The DSSF is on loan from "MAX"

I liked it so much I have a deal to buy one from another member

VERY SWEET KNIFE(Even my wife likes it)

Would make a GREAT lighter weight survival knife for Backpacking.

I like it better than my Tank Buster.

Charles likes his Hell Razor the best followed by the Tank Buster-then the DSSF.

Again--you GOTTA test to see what feels best in your hand.

We Tested the Big Siegle that Charles owns and Green Handled one of mine

We tested them on Mesquite trees(some old and dead---like chopping concrete)

Both Siegles did great as did the Busse's

The overall winner of the Busse's??

Depends on what you want

The Tank Buster is a Great overall Knife--but HEAVY.I do not think you could damage it without a big hammer.Would be a GREAT knife for a BOB.

The Hell Razor is a light and fast knife that is also VERY comfortable.Middle of the road knife. Not too heavy to carry all day or too short to chop.

The DSSF Chops better than it should and feels better than it looks like it will.
Very Surprised and how good it feels and Cuts.

It would be my choice for a survival knife if I could have only one of the 3.

Charles BIG Siegle is more like a Mini Sword--could chop a mans leg off with it.

Overall--it was a GREAT day to test.

Hope you enjoy the Photos

Great testing Bill! I have Siegle's Hoodlum II and that other Siegle dwarfs it:eek: Man, that is a large piece of steel.

That mesquite is tough stuff...

great review bill with good pics of lots of choppers. mesquite is certainly the wood that separates the men from the boys. piney woods are like balsa compared to mesquite.i believe the fact mesquite grows very slowly in semiarid environments makes it such a tuffie.Texas A & M university did some tests & found mesquite coals burn 7 times hotter than charcoal.looks like snyder is still fairly warm as well as we are. thanks.
dennis. as an aside the janka wood hardness scale rates mesquite at 2340 & bois d'arc at 2320. bois d'arc is commonly called bodark or osage orange & most members have a healthy respect for this animal
