I have no idea how difficult this would be to do, but I think it would be INCREDIBLY COOL if there was a function on the Busse website that allowed perspective buyers to computer generate they combo they are considering for purchase. Basically a Build-A-Blade function. Much like they do on Car/Truck/Motorcycle sites where you can basically create a custom image of the vehicle you want. For our purposes, all the options that you could put on a knife would be nice:

handle color, handle material, handle width, blade color, blade width, etc. And just for kicks throw in one of those rotation screens that allows the viewer to see the blade from all angles.

This is what I mean, thanks to Toyota (my favorite maker):

Recently there have been some questions as to what OD G-10 looks like. From the website it looks like a brighter green than it does on pics of other blades (ADs are what I've seen) with that same handle. There has been some debate as to what it will look like in actuality. On blades this expensive I certainly don't want to speculate what the combo would look like. In this case a surprise isn't that much fun to be honest.

I'm sure there are some super computer-savvy hogs out there that could work on this. Anyone else think this would be useful. Just a thought. Thanks for indulging me.

That's a good idea . But I'm surely not one of those computer-savvy Hogs that can do it.

I think that the company I work for (Adobe Systems, which you may have heard of ;) ) acquired this type of technology, which allows merchants to show different color combinations for products, about a year ago.

Never heard of them. What do they do? J/k:D

Adobe  isn't that an indian tribe? No wonder the awesome pics ;)

That would be very cool. It would make it easier to buy stuff from the company store, too!

Love it....As long as Amy-O isn't required to do any more:D

but It might cut down on her changes orders.

That would probably save Jerry some on payroll and save our darling Amy-O the chance of getting grey hair:eek:

Amy-O, you know you would look good in a burlap sack though, so no worries here:D:D:thumbup:

Much agreed. I think this would definitely cut back on those pesky, "I changed my mind" calls that Amy, Kendra and the rest of the fine ladies at the shop get. It isn't a cure all, but it should lessen the burden quite a bit.

BRING ON THE J-BABS (Jerry's Build-A-Blade Selector). See it even has it's own special HOG acronym.

I think just having a thumbnail of each combo available would be more practical. Not sure if investing in a software like that would be profitable for BC.

Probably more practical for the BCS. Especially for the sheaths and certain customs they have on there.

The only problem with that is that each one of those combos would have to be built before they can be photographed and added to the website. The selector function would allow Busse to photo the pieces and make them available for the buyer to "build".

I've often wished for the same as I am color handicapped. Not color-blind mind you, but just not good at imagining color combinations. I was crushed as a young man when I realized I had no future as an interior designer, so I took up carpentry instead. My clothes seldom match.

I've photochopped knives together in the past (as have others) to get a sense of colors, but an applet or program that allows this visual work would be most welcome.

I found it. The company that we acquired was called Scene7. See: http://www.scene7.com/

Their Dynamic Imagining is what I was thinking of.

AlumaGrips developed their own system for allowing customers to see different colors and styles of grips. See: http://www.alumagrips.com/

Click on the "Build A Grip" link on the menu bar.

Aluma-grips Build-a-Grip feature is EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

And I agree with Porkybear. We need Private Joker on this one! Hey Lunde, hint, hint.

I thought about that too after buying my first ASH-1, I built my wifes Honda Pilot on site before I went to the dealer, should be much easier for the knives.

Great Idea! Hope Busse does it!

I too agree that this would be a great addition as far as buyer ease is concerned. It very well might cut down on some calls to the shop of people changing their minds, but I bet if it does it is by a small margin. The indecisive don't change over night .

That would just make me spent even more time on the computer drooling over Busse s.

Great Idea !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
