For anyone outside of the USA who's send one of their knives in for the spa treatment, did you have to pay duty / taxes for the full value of the knife? If not, how does it work?

Any insight from Canadians would be greatly appreciated!

Grimspoon, Don't hold me to this, and Amy will definitely know the long & short of it waaaaay better than myself... But I believe that a knife/item can be shipped at full insurance value of the knife, but be declared "Repairs" or "Repaired"...something like that, and for the declared cost of said repairs/spa treatment. Especially when you yourself can prove it to be already owned by holding on to your outgoing shipping receipt(s) until its return.

Best thing to do is shoot her an email or call her about it after the weekend.

Hi Grimspoon

I sent a Battle Mistress back to the "spa" for a minor touch-up a couple of months ago.
There were no problems with CBSA-I insured the package for it's value and sent it back to Busse via Canada Post...shipping/insurance was around $38 CAD.

The great people at Busse touched it up under warranty for me and shipped it, (Thanks Amy!!), back to me via USPS....it was listed as a repair and there were no fees or duties applicable...I just had to go show some ID at the post office, sign for receipt and picked up my parcel.
I wasn't asked to provide my original bill of sale from Busse or the receipt from Canada Post to prove that I'd already paid the taxes for it.

I'm sure your experience will be the same as mine....smooth and no problems:)
