I remember when I was in either middle or high school I saw an add in shomer-tec or one of the other catalogs I got at the time. They were advertising this polymer knife made by a company called Busse. It was somewhat pricey but the capability seemed impressive.

Fast forward 20 years, I wish I had one. I have nice collection of knives and a sub collection of polymer's/non-metallic/metal-detector-defeating knives and weapons.

I know INFI is the bread and butter material Busse uses now, but is there any chance of a synthetic like the Stealth Hawk being produced?

Thanks

If I remember right the material they made them out of is not allowed to be made any more and , the supply has dried up.

I read that as well. Well, not the "not allowed" part but the "they ran out" part.

Why not allowed? Was it stolen from Area 51 and determined to be the same material they make the REAL Stealths out of??

Thanks

I would think the material is being produced in other countries (Mexico?), where the pollution police are non existant.I would think the material would be pretty easy to source if you knew the details of things like trade names or the actual composition.Phenolics are very popular and being used in all kinds of places you and I could only dream about. I saw some very cool stuff in a military beachball manufacturing facility . That stuff was like nothing you have seen . They had lots of it. The point here is ,if it is "good stuff" .....someone is making it.

This explains some. . . It is definitely the fastest Busse ever produced with regards to size, and I have heard that it is tough enough to be pounded through a 55 gal barrel with a hammer with virtually no tip damage

And that's the kind of thing I'm talking about....lightweight, non-metallic, but Busse durability. Right now the best quality out there in non-metallics is Cold Steel as far as I know...

Here's a crappy pic of one I picked up recently for another forum-mite. He probably has better pics already.

The handle had been rigger coated, and had an aftermarket sheath which had been rigger coated as well. Will post more when I get home.

It's a cool knife.

From 2002 to present they seem to stay a pretty stable $225.00 to $275.00 with just the occasional showing up over $300.00 or under $200.00.

When they show up on the exchange at all that is.

I found one last year for $100.00 used and a little beat up, I bought it and promptly gave it away as a gift.

Yeah, I'd definitely be a buyer at anything <$200!! That being said, how do these knives perform? The serrations (smart design BTW for the sake of "resharpening") look like it makes them more than just stabbers.

Thanks

IIRC, the material produced some nasty by-products either in the manufacturing of the material, or during the grinding/machining.

Used to see them around for, as Andre said, a couple hundo, but now and then would market at the 150-175 range with original "breakfront" sheath.

Not appropriate to solicit here at all.

Best thing to do is post over in the "Want to Buy" forum and see if one comes around.

May take a while, but ya never know...

I wanted to add it to my sig line but I'm guessing they make you pay for that here...either that or I'm missing the option in my profile.

Nice pics. Seems like you use yours. So how does it cut/slice? Is it durable enough for more than a stabber?

I tried finding ANY for sale online and there aren't any which is odd because even with guns that were only made for a year or two you can still find them here and there...

Thanks

On the Busse Video for the Stealth Hawk, it shows the knife being used to saw cut 1/2" rope, what appears to be hemp rope.

Shows the knife beaten through the lid of a fifty gallon drum and driven through some 2"X6"'s.

That should be available some where on the historical part of the internet.
