I have an ever so slightly used Busse Steel Heart 1 for sale. It looks like it was used by a little old lady only on Saturday night, sharpened on her fine china, and never used to cut anything hard.

Ok, maybe that is a stretch. The knife is sterile has very slight scratches on the black coating and is, I believe, ATS 34 (you Busse buffs can correct me if I am wrong). It doesn't like me because I don't use it. It has a nylon and kydex-lined sheath by "Eagle USA". For ***SOLD*** I will insure and ship in the US. Cashier's check or money orders, please. If interested, email me at parang1@comcast.net. (Yes, this is the same knife posted in the "custom" section. :footinmou ).

"If one reads further in the posts, this knife is actually an early Steel Heart II with the Bird's Beak pommel by Busse. The steel is A2. Thanks to MikeH for the correction." David Farmer

I have had some emails for pictures. The light scuffs in the coating did not show up. Thanks for looking.

As DN said, it is an early SH II. I believe the steel used for these was A2. It is a very nice knife, one of my favorite Steel Hearts!

Yeah,,the first SH's were ATS 34, but was just wandering as far as "appearence" wise,,,what was the diffrence?

Galaxy: The original Steel Heart was of ATS 34 steel and had the bird's beak pommel. It came to be called the Steel Heart I only after the Steel Heart II was introduced. The Steel Heart II was slightly longer than the SH I, was of A2 steel, retained the bird's beak pommel, and had a smooth black coating.

A possible point of confusion is that the third Steel Heart version introduced, the straight handled SH without the BB pommel, has come in common useage to be called the Steel Heart II. However, there is no doubt that the original Steel Heart II was the one as shown in the pictures above, as I have a copy of Tactical Knives with this knife on the cover and referred to as the Steel Heart II. That magazine has a Busse ad inside referring to this knife as the Steel Heart II. This is the first Busse I bought, in 1994.

oh,,ok MikeH

good explanation, I really appreciate the input,,I'll remember that.

by the way,,I was looking for ya at the Gun show last weekend in Birmingham

Sorry I missed you. I had a SH I and SH II with me, along with a one-of-a-kind Busse Custom Shop Bowie, for show and tell.

Thanks, Mike. From the pictures I saw on Bad Mojo, I thought it was a SHI. You guys are the experts. How about it? ***sold*** for an early Steel Heart II, shipped and insured?

Mike! What are you doing going around showing off my bowie? :D I still regret not having the funds to snatch that mother up when I saw it! :D

Oh yeah, you're dead on. That is a Bird's Beaked Steel Heart II or BBSHII.

David: I don't recall seeing any of these sold recently, so I don't have a good feel for the market in them. It seems lately that more SH I's have been offered than BBSH II's. My gut feeling is that you are in the ball park, and if I didn't already have one, and seeing as how it is an essential for a serious Busse collector, I probably would buy at that price.

I do know that at present I would not sell mine at that price. It is, however, unused and unsharpened although not mint. It is also my wife's favorite Busse.

Pro: Regarding the Bowie, just console yourself with the thought that he who hesitates is - solvent. :D
