Hey folks, Where can I find a good deal on a Steel Heart from Busse, Or any deal at all? What's the deal with their site? I wanted to get one before april when my unit deploys to The Liberated Republic of Iraq. I've got a CR Green Beret and I love it but I really want something I can Wreck the hell out of. Let me know..

Hi!
the Busse site should soon open again! The steel heart is a really great knife! ( I have 2 :D ).
Try to call Jerry at (419) 923 64 71.
If you want something strong for a good price there is the Swamp Rat option. They're made at the Busse factory, they're based on the Busse Basic line serie but they're not made of the same steel. But Swamp Rat offer an unconditional guaranty, if you break one you got a new no question ask. They offer a 7 1/2" blade to a very good price.
look at the tests:

and if you want to take a look at their products:

Hope that help!

Rad,
I truly understand you! I'm fan too! but take a look at the Swamp Rats, they're in the same spirit!
The Queen of my knives is a Desert Steel Heart! oooooooooh I love that knife! Anyway, for a military use I will recomand you the Natural Outlaw.
Same as Steel heart but with a 6" blade.

Almost 10 years ago now Jerry Busse made a small finger knife for my son, who was then writing a kid's column on knives for Fighting Knives Magazine.

It was a great little fixed blade, single edge, and very comfortable grip.

Tough as all get-out.

Last month my son, now in his mid-20s, gave me this knife as a gift.

This last week I had it sheathed by Tim Wegner at Blade-Tech during a visit to Tim's shop. Belt carry, 1.5" belt loop (no tech lok).

Knife and sheath are perfect:D

Busse has always made truly great knives. This particular one is very special, and very efficient for both work and SD carry, and proof that edged dynamite still comes in small packages:eek:

Just curious, do you not feel your GB can stand a beating, or that it's too pretty to beat up? I own both, CRK and Busse and do not feel either will let you down.

Good luck with your deployment......

If you call Jerry, I can't imagine him not prioritizing your knife, given your situation.

I imagine that anything w/ Chris name on it will with stand a lot of abuse... but there is that element of "prettiness" with his knives that almost beg to be put in a safe. I refuse however to put anyhting that I spend 350 bucks in a safe when I really enjoy using the damn thing. Maybe if some of you guys know Jerry or if you speak to him you could ask him for me when his site eill open or where HE recommends that I buy one. I lost one on Ebay and I haven't slept well since. Anyways thanks guys, I'm not too worried about my deployment though I would love to take a Steel Heart with me and let Jerry know how it handles, in real combat.

Thanks Eric, and thanks all, I appreciate the help from such a good group of guys (and gals, not to exclude anyone)

Eric -

Will try again to get a picture of the knife on the thread.

For some reason it ain't happening.

Maybe Spark needs to turn something on for me at his end???

An element of "prettiness". Yeah, I agree with that! It would be easier for me to abuse my Busses, than it would be my CRK's. CRK's display such perfect fit and finish that, it can almost lead you to believe it should not he altered.

However, there is something about a Busse that makes you feel like it should be used/abused.

Thats exactly what I meant...Like a silver grenade...Lethal ,but pretty.
