I had picked up a while back what I was told was a Busse made strop. I decided to offer it in with a couple knives I am selling and decided to go ahead and ask you guys about it since I am sure someone here knows. I want to be acurate when I am selling, so thank you in advance for any help.

Yes, Busse did make a strop, you didn't include a picture to tell if it was one of theirs to verify though.

Hope this is what you are looking for......

Doesn't look like a Busse "Air Bleeder" strop to me. They had cylindrical stops, this one has cubic. Unless Jerry did some squared off like that?

Those types of strops have been around for a very long time, and quite a few companies have made them.

oh....thank you. I got it off a guy on USN and he said it was one. I should have asked the experts first. Thanks for the help.

Yours may not be an official Busse strop; but it is perfectly functional, and looks to be longer, which is an advantage. Can't help you on value, though.

Do you have a source for them ?
My grandfather had one, does that help you defer?? I dont know the real name for them, but its been around for at LEAST 50 years. I dont know what your getting at.

Well, there ya go!

Here's one from an antique shop, vintage stuff

Restored model, looks nice

Seems the greater numbers are from Germany, some great values there, I'm now on the hunt. Dave actually saved me some money! :D

I think Dave was just asking where they could be found to purchase, not questioning your information source.

:D

No worries, it matters not to me either way, its all good.

They are called loom strops and I think they are great. You can adjust them for different knives and grinds.
They are available all over the place. Amazon, classicshaving .com and others
