We had a wind storm a while back and I decided to test out some knives I had. I just tested against a free hanging branch and chopping. so here is what the non lab test generated.

esee 6- wasn't good at either. It is light for a chopper, but I thought the grind would make it better than it was for slicing free hanging limbs.

becker 2- I was impressed that this short thing could do what it could do

becker 4- I was not impressed at either task. I think I need to learn a better technique with this blade shape.

becker 9- did great at chopping and slicing free hanging limbs as well

busse cgfbm- great at chopping, ok at slicing limbs.

busse tglb comp finish- ok at both

busse basic 10- great at both

well, I picked up a swkw rodent 9 user and did some branches tonight. I will have to do full test yet to get an opinion. I really like it so far.

So far with chopping, it went in this order of best to worst
busse cgfbm
busse basic 10
becker 9
busse tglb
becker 2
becker 4
esee 6

lol ok. don't blame the knife for lack of technique. The shorter knives you have mentioned are just fine ,and tough as nails, and highly effective in processing or chopping limbs. One would have to use a baton to process thicker "limbs" with the smaller ones, but that is what they are made for. Plus using a baton to get through thicker wood "limbs" and such, is much easier on your blade, and a whole lot safer than having someone with poor technique chopping or swinging a blade like a mad man. on a 1" to 2" limb, just lay the blade over it, take a good heavy baton, and a couple good whacks is all it takes, rather than swinging 20 or 30 times for chopping with smaller blades.

hello kermabit777, what did you think when you tested these knives?
