I've got a question I'm sure some of the more experienced collectors can answer. I see on the exchange there are a lot of Busse/Swamp Rat knives being offered for sale, Why! I don't own one, but have handled several different models, and they seem to be a decent blade, reminding me of other, older designs I've seen over the years. I'm just wondering why someone would want to sell such a high priced blade, sometimes at a loss. Are they not what they appear to be? Is the price prohibitive to every day use and carry? Or is ther some other reason I'm not seeing? Any comment would be appreciated.

Well, most of the Busse HOGS buy several of ech knife, so they sell some to get money to buy others. Or maybe they just need room in their safe. I dont think you ever have to take much of a loss with a Busse, the old ones are very collectable, and the new ones have a long wait, so folks will sometimes pay a few extra sheckles to get one sooner than "two weeks" :D

Its a sickness. You will find that Busse has a cult like following. Very few of them live in the jungle with 13 kids, necessitating the need for every knife in the Busse line up. After having bought every knife in the busse line up anyway, and multiple knives or variations of thier favorite. Busse offers a new one that looks even better.
In an effort to get the new one right away (perhaps in time for the birth of child 14?) they decide to sell some of the extras. Of course their target crowd is a sicko just like them who already has 2 of those knives and sees no need to pay full price.
And there you have it ;) :D

Maybe thats not the best explanation, but this knife collecting thing is for fun and it can be as hard to explain as any other collecting type hobby. Sometimes people buy multiple models and then only keep thier favorite after trying them all. Sometimes people decided to take their collection in a new direction. Sometimes people need fast cash and see whatever is easiest to market, and do without for the time being. Busse aren't the only knives it happens with, its just how things go, doesn't say anything bad about the quality of the knives if thats what your wondering.
