Which Bussekin have people found best for a one handed grip.

I have a Ruck, Rucki and Waki already. The Viking serpent looks best for this but I feel like I would prefer a single edge.

Thanks

99% of busse peeps here want two handers. So far viking, I think, is the closest to one handed sword. It is also not balanced in the same way most traditional swords are. More of a short falchion meant for chopping, due to lack of distal taper. The fuller also doesn't go up far. Creating a very top heavy sword (actually heavy overall compared to historical swords) that excels at chopping as I said.

The new spartan sword will probably be a one hander too, especially with a more restrictive guard. It is single edged too like you are looking for.

I agree, these two with their guards are the most obvious one handers, as much as I would like both, I can't justify their purchase - I have enough kukris that fit the bill of the curved blade the Spartan fills. I was hoping there may be some others may come to mind. I was really wanting a Gladius back in the day.

Thanks for your response.

Well, there is 2 handed handle length wise and 2 handed handling wise. I feel like most Japan style based Busse designs would be fine used one handed, even the Gemini sword.

Gladius while shorter than viking, has a 2 hander length handle as well. Now, the extra material might add more weight to balance the blade like a historical pumel...but I never held one in hand.

The tg 19 sword, has and interesting handle design as well which gradually widens towards the pumel. So it might actually facilitate a grip which naturally slides up for more chocked up hold, and adds pummel weight making it a better 1 hander handling wise.

But that's based in looks. Only swords I got are viking and spartan on order.

Another sword to consider is the busse hognose war sword. It's yet another chopper design that isn't a kukri

Enjoy your swords! Thanks for your responses.

The OP did ask about "bussekin" swords best for one-handed use...
...Not 1 mention of any of the Res-c sword models from SRKW & SYKCO yet? 🤔

To the OP- you already have 2 of the nicest short swords (Ruck, Rucki) 👍
SYKCO OMG-15 & TNT-15, & SRKW FR Wakizashi (sp?) are all light, & capable of single hand use, with nice & grippy Res-C handles.

/\ what he said. The free rein is a great short sword and Busse did a great job with the 3v. My only complaint is the handle.

Another option that no one said yet was the f16. A true one handed short sword.

Yes F16, a true two hander and nimble enough to be one-handed.

The Battle Grade AK47 is a great one to try out, too. It is a bit more lively than the INFI AK < although it's damn near perfect, too>.

My favorite for swinging + aesthetics is the short Butaniku.

Patiently waiting for my preorder for a waki made with similar specs in ztuff. 24.5 inch blade, 10.5 handle 35 inches in total. I think that is pretty close to the short bataniku. It should be a fun blade to swing.

And yeah, only a little bit jealous...

Is that one off ? I’ve never seen this before. Very cool.

It was on one of the busse email sales around 4 years ago
I missed on the sale but found one on secondary market for a few hundred dollars more
Very cool little sword
I think there was around 10 made but can’t remember anymore
