Busse Tank Buster Modification.

Currently, I own a Tank Buster, but am not really crazy about it. It's an awesome blade, but I'd love to have something with a simpler design. I've tried trading it for another model with no luck. Today I had a crazy idea to grind the bumps off of the spine and cater it to my liking. My question is...
Will this void the warranty and can does Busse do these modifications in house. I know there are other makers that will do modifications for a small fee, but I'm not sure about Busse.
Here is how I would like to change it.

Be careful how you grind it. It takes a ridiculous amount of heat to draw the temper on a piece of INFI but it can be done. Busse blades are guaranteed no matter what, but they can't guarantee mods to them. Can you post pics?

And I spose i should say, think hard before you do modify it! I don't know how you tried trading it but there are probably a lot of people who would just love that knife, and not hardly any who would want a modified one.

As long as the modification was done by Busse the warranty will still be good.

I'd agree with the previous two comments. Void warranty, and significantly decrease resale. Just sell it and buy a Boss Jack, or satin jack if you like the TB handle.

I don't really know why, but trading Busse knives can be really difficult...

You would be better of selling the knife and using the money to buy something more suited to your needs. If you plan on a knife with that type of design I can recommend the following:
SJTAC - Similar length, same handle and basic design.
Boss Jack - There are many variations, simple design, lighter and similar lengths available.

It would be really easy to sell that Tankbuster and pick up one of the above without spending anything extra - You might even have some cash left over!

It may help to know a few models that look similar to what you are looking for:
Here's a BATAC:

Can't get my pic of a sar4 to load but that'd be kind of similar also, smaller

You guys are a huge help. Can you tell me what would be the appropriate place to ask for the value on this?

Get a Axe Hammer almost the same thing :)

If you can afford the possible loss - go for it. Your skill in doing this is also a factor in your decision. I am considering obtaining a beater SARQ, and grinding a more elliptical shaped blade - like a SARQ Steel Heart. Experiments can be worthwhile, and rewarding. Good Luck!

"gratmars"

The man to ask is Garth, I would send him an email before you do anything. Busse Custom shop makes some wild blades with custom grinds. I believe his email is Garth at bussecombat dot com.

Get gold membership and I think you could find a trade, I have a Boss Jack that Im wanting to find a new home for.

Or you can just message me and let me know how much you want for the Tank Buster.

Thanks for all the info, this forum is way better that I expected. I just purchased a gold membership.
