I just got my first BIG Busse in the form of a FBM and I really like it so far. The heft of the FBM is there for a reason, chopping and what not but I would really like a thinner faster model.

I was wondering though does Busse ever make thinner blades?

Does INFI loss it's strengh if it's made thinner?

Why make such thick blades?

There are a few 3/16 and a few.220 big blades..the entire Zero Tolerance series and Terror Monkeys.....I perfer the thick blades though...short or big blades.

Except ZTSJ, it is regular SJ thickness= 1/4", IF I'm not mistaken. :D

A satin Zero Tolerance BM-E just sold for 600 on ebay and that is a really nice blade. I was going to bid on it but had to work, so I hope some lucky forum hog got it.

Thin is nice. INFI is tough and can be made much thinner. In fact the current crop of mid sized knives is thinner than ever before. The Hell razor FNO and SJtac are thinner than the older SJ's and NO's etc.

The FSH is also about 0.22 inch thick which is a nice thickness.

Answering your questions in order:

Yes. In this picture, left-to-right, we have a 1/4" Satin Jack Variant, a 1/8" NICK variant, a 0.220" NICK XXXL and 3/16" Satin Jack. For my purposes, I think I like the 0.220" models the most. That is the thickness of the Meaner Street and the original MoFo series (don't know about the new stuff) and it is strong without being too big. The ZTBM that I traded to BorderShift always seemed too skinny to me, but the Uncle MoFo and Force 1 are just about perfect.

Only in terms of geometry. A 1/8" blade is easier to bend than a 1/4" one, as you might expect.

Because Jerry knows his market and the market says "fat knives save lives".
