So now that we have seen some of what will be offered by Scrap Yard Knives, I am somewhat ... nervous I guess. I do not see enough of a product difference between SYK and Swamp Rat such that they will occupy different market niches.

Is anybody concerned that SYK will ultimately prove to be a shot in the foot of Swamp Rat. Same designs, same guarantees (?), SYK will have same or lower prices, and SYK will also have top-notch steel (basically indestructable stuff by your average user). Why will anybody still want a Swamp Rat?

I don't think any line will be hurt by the other. First there was Busse, when Swamp was introduced, it more or less fed enthusiasm for both lines. I think SY will help introduce people to the Busse/Swamp family, and just cause folks to move on up the food chain until they're spending thousands of dollars on top notch INFI. I, for example, bought a Swamp first, which led to many others and even more Busses. And don't forget that the steel in the SY line won't be the same grade steel as Swamp steel...they are different quality and priced accordingly...

Well, some people prefer Res-C handles, some people prefer Micarta, so that's a big differentiator right there.

Also, SR-77 is supposed to be "tougher" than SR-101 but gives up a little on edge-holding ability, so the SYKs will make awesome big choppers.

Knowing the Busse's I wouldn't imagine that the warranty would be much different than the others. Are you planning to break your first? ;)

:D :D

I want a DOG Mojo and a mini dog mojo...I'll be happy' when I get my scrappy!:D

Yes I want some heavy choppers too. That and I want respirine handles, I love micarta but I like respirine for alot of things too. Thats why i will buy SY's, that and Mojo's hahaha. Also they are going to be reasonibly priced? not sure what price but less than usual and thats good enough for me.
