I'd like to know what a few words mean in the Busse world. Here are a few to start. I may add more as I am learning.

1. What is a HOG? Not Heavy Grade Ordinance. I'm referring to when Gary Busse calls you "HOGS"
2. What is a Grab Bag and how do people get them?
3. What is a GANZA?
4. What is "Bacon" in the world of Busse?

O.

Jerry Busse, not Gary Busey. They are both a little off their rocker, but one is from INFI shavings and a lot of booze and one is from who knows what.

A HOG is a person that follows the Busse brands as a loyal customer and know that the Company, Jerry, Amy, Garth, and everyone else at the company have their (and their knives) backs, regardless of what stupid things we may do to them**
1) run them over with a ride on mower
2) shoot them
3) chop a car in half
4) you name it

Though there are Piglets (those not initiated) and HOGS have gone through an induction ceremony done at Blade show only.

Ganza is a quick free-for-all buying event where you hope your email is in time, and no one claims the knife you want.

Grab bags are released every now and then, but there are none currently available.

Bacon is bacon. Those who love it, know what bacon is. Those that do not love bacon, either haven't had it yet or are dead or vegetarian (which is still dead).

Thank you! And of course... Jerry..not Gary. Sorry.

Here's another....

When I bought my Busse, it came with a paper that was cut up to demonstrate the sharpening skills of a guy named "Beef". The paper said something about "SWINE" on it. What did that mean? And why all the references to all things PORK (ie Swine, Hog, Piglets, Bacon)? The obvious answer is that they sell knives and knives are used by butcher. Sorry for the ignorance....I have to ask. I'm tired of faking it.

Someone can still better explain "Bacon" BTW

Bacon = yummy meat foodstuffs.

Thanks for the info. I was "saying" it wrong in my head. Fun Fact...I live about 40 minutes away from Busse headquarters.

A guy named “BEEF”!

I myself posed this question during the last Grab Bag event, and all I can offer is: BEEF is a bearded grinding machine, a sort-of T900/human cyborg with grinders for arms/fingers with bottle openers attached. Think something like Edward Scissorhands combined with a Terminator and incorporate belt grinders and bottle openers. The lore indicates he’s fueled by whiskey and bacon, and yields rather sharp edges.

Your supplied pre-sliced paper is referred to as a “Swine Shaving Sharpness Sheet” as an indicator of your knife’s ability to slice paper (and resultant tougher materials). From what I’ve learned as a piglet, if BEEF’s skills have graced your blade, you can rest assured you’ll lose some hairs (or a finger) utilizing your Busse! Be careful!

A long time ago, someone commented that Busse's customers were like hogs at a trough. Or something like that. The "hog" thing stuck, and other pig/pork references followed.

I don't know guy's, hear that Gary Busse makes some pretty awesome knives. We should check that out.

a grab bag is a busse sale, in the case of last time, were there were $250 and $500 grab bags. You order your bags and take your chances on what you get. the value of the bags is supposed to exceed the purchase price. If you are new to Busse they are awesome. Advanced collector, not as much.
