Which Busse model do you think comes closest to the ideal Bushcraft knife? Pix will help.

The harder question to answer is “what is bushcraft” exactly. There are a number of Busses blades that I think are great “all rounders” that would probably mean great at BC too.

It’s a harder question than it appears :D

Hellrazor 2/troughraider work awesome for the 8-10 inch, I have used the troughraider more just because I can do anything to it and it will never fail. If you are looking for smaller, I really like the P&L Statement, it feels great in the hand and is great at most tasks around the campfire. The only thing it struggles with is cutting a tree in half with a single swipe.

Battlesaw would be my choice if I had to bug out and could only take one fixed blade.

I carry my LE Basic8 on my day pack hiking but that's never an extended stay.

Sarsquatch is pretty fine all-rounder, too.

I like the squared-off exposed pommels of the Saw & Squatch, they're handy for lots of things. Nice to hit with and hit on.

"The general definition of a bushcraft knife comes down to its size. While a survival knife may have a blade eight inches (or more) in length, a bushcraft knife blade is no longer than five, and sometimes as little as two or three."
Think of an all-around EDC or back country utility knife used for detailed work like carving, notching, foraging/harvesting, shavings for fire building, food prep, etc.

I'm thinking that a non-coated BA3 or Active Duty, a BAD, or even Cultellus would fit that bill nicely. So would a Groovemaster - any other thoughts or suggestions?

Guessing you are looking for choices outside of the HOGmuk or Mini Muk? 🤔

An Anorexic Boss St in choice of choil (L/S/None) would fit the description you gave (pic shows a CS hollow ground reg BOSS St, the ABS is in the sheath)
On the SRKW side (in similarity of model) the Hairy Carry 3.5" or 4" might fit the bill. 🤔🙂 (HCLE with M9LE)

Kind of a wild choice, but for a larger but still thin stock SAS knife choice with a full guard, the Ratmandeux might excel more at bushcraft tasks being lighter & thinner like the TG family excels at heavier duty tasks.

Anyone put the Park Ranger through its paces & can speak on its performance? 🤔

That's just silly - I wonder who made him the Merriam Webster of the knife world. Also, what are these 9" kitchen knives are for .... ever cut a loaf of bread, a ham or a turkey with a 2-3" blade ?

Anyways, everybody needs two knives for all around use. Like these:

If I'd be forced to a single blade, it would be around 6", but even then I'd try to carry a folder, too.

Didn't mean to imply you had said it .... sorry if the quote of the quote came across like this. Whenever somebody says bushcraft or survival I become a little apprehensive :)
