wow! i have never seen so many busse's for sale at one time before.

i remember a couple of years ago you couldn't find one of any model to buy.

any takes on this phenomena, what gives and what do YOU think?

it looks like a buyers market and a great time to scarf up some older very

collectable busse's :p

Their all selling the old busses to pay for the new ones Jerry talked them into buying :D :D :D

With the "knife-of-the-month", including all of the cool variations, the EU-17's, the Terror Monkeys, promise of Mini's etc., most hogs are maxed and can only drool over the current sale forum postings.

Also, my list of must-haves has dwindled considerably in the last couple of years. Nothing currently posted is not a duplicate of something already in-house.

All that being said, the temptation is strong to hit the old retirement fund for a couple of K and go hog wild!

Me likes the oldies!

Me 2, but if you can buy a brand new Fusion SH for $327, that is so similar to the old straight handled SHII, why pay more money for the old SHSH on the secondary market? Am I alone in this thinking?

Yes and no. It would depend on the individual and the $$$ situation. The older SHSH's being hand finished and ground are more unique in the sense that no 2 are exactly alike. At least that's the way it is with mine (7 down to 3). One of these is a user and quite well used. They are all keepers, these last 3.

Another thing is, that they are so different from the ergos. I fell in love with the straight handles and have very few of the ergos left. I EDC a SHBA. Until now it was either pay extra or go with the ergo. I liked the heft and feel of the straights better.

If I was starting out again. yes, I would go with the FSH and call it good rather than pay a premium for a SHSH unless it was for a collection. They are so similar that for practical purposes they are the same for use, but the cachet of the older knives still remains. They aren't making anymore.

I haven't ordered my FSH, yet. Mainly I'm still mulling over options/cost/use. Am I going to use it? Is it going to be a safe queen? I have a user SHSH, so this one might very well sit. Of course when I get it in my hand there could be an uncontrollable urge to chop on something. Ya never know. But I am going to get one.

i agree with wet, there's just something "right" about the older straights.

look good, feel good, they are just cool and work well.

kind of like an old classic car or one of the older rifles or pistols.

there's a lot of new pistols out there all ergoed up, but give me my 1911's.

That jibes with my thinking. It's now harder to justify paying a premium for a SHSH on the secondary market, over and above the price of a new Fusion SH, unless it's to fill out a collection. I personally like to have back-ups of my favorite user models stashed away, in case I lose the user, and I think that's common practice among INFIholics. I have a SHSH I like a lot, and would have considered buying another for two reasons--one, as a backup in case I lose the one I have; and two, because they're not made anymore--i.e. it's not easy to find a back-up SHSH on short notice. But with the Fusion SH in production and available, those two reasons are less prominent--which means I'm less likely to pay a price for a SHSH that's much higher than the price of a new FSH. And with the advent of the new Fusion Battle Mistress, I'd think that would apply there as well.

As for me I, I bought a few xtra ergos before they were no longer available so I could sell for a bit more a couple of years from now. BUT, the HOFSH does cost a bit more and also needs a sheath, and times are unexpectedly a bit tight (Hurricane Ivan), and I have no patience to wait and sell later. To me the HOFSH looks like the "sexiest" blade on the planet! I must have that blade or two or three :D :) ;)

I like the HOFSH also and that's what I'm going to get. But, only 1. Didn't get hit with any of the storms, but buying supplies for 4 near misses along with the EU offers really put a dent in the funds.

Like Will and a lot of infiholics I do like to have backups for my users/keepers. Luckily, this is the case or I'd be going nuts with the offerings from Skunk and Andre on the exchange (along with others). I'm still going nuts, but the funds simply aren't there and that makes the decision much easier. Not pleasant, but easier.

Like Skunk said, a couple of years ago you couldn't find an older Busse of any sorts. Now, there are all sorts of very desirable blades up for grabs. I guess the economy of a couple of years ago finally trickled down to those prized collection pieces. Plus, Jerry is just coming out with all this very nice stuff at once it seems. Terror Monkeys, EU17's and the FSH all within a few weeks of each other. Makes my head hurt.

Wonder if Jerry would take my 18yo as an indentured servant?

Actually i know what's happening. As of last month i knew i was going to leave my job and move so i would be pretty broke. Hence the coming out of the woodwork of older busse knives. If there was any curiosity why, this should clear it up, thanks. :(

Well it would be a good time for a collector with a stash of cash.
Unfortunately I blew all my money on INFI over the last year and a half. :grumpy:

oink mode on...If you have an Off Duty money is never far away :D...oink mode off

don't get me wrong here, i'm going to try to collect the whole series of all busse's

most of my "users" are the older straights. i'm sure the ergos will climb in value as they too are getting very collectable.

Well I said I spent all my money. It wasn't much money. I only got a couple of knives.
Of course one was a desert warfare mean off duty.

Huh?
