I have a nice model 834 whittler. One handle is perfect but the right handle is cracked apart in several spots and someone did a trashy job repairing it with JB weld. Do any of you happen to have a spare right hand scale for an 834 lying around? I'm sure It can easily be replaced, but I want to do it right. They are the jigged bone, not sure what the exact name is for it. Or would I be better off leaving it as-is, so I do not hurt what is left of the value? Well, I'm gonna head out, I am working on a schrade 787 "hawbaker" style muskrat, ratman style :D
Many thanks for your input.

I wouldn't worry too much about the value on that. Only the pristine ones get the bucks.

That is, however, a nicely broken-in (no pun intended) whittler. People actually try to make their new whittlers look like that(except for the broken scale part)

If it were mine, I would think up a new rework project for this. I know you got da skillz to do it. The bone and delrin is pretty common, go with something exotic. It would make a great EDC, IMO.

I was thinking, if I do refurb it, maybe some sambar stag, or mammoth tooth would look cool I'm sure.

Hey Rat Man, you'll have one of the most expensive whittlers around if you put Mammoth or Sambar on it. That stuff is EXPENSIVE. One of these days when you have time, send me your mailing address and I'll send to some Axis Deer and WhiteTail deer antler. We've got a ton of that laying on the ranch from sheds every year.

yeah, the stuff ain't no where in the vicinity of cheap. I like the looks of it the way it is, i'll just deal with the bust, maybe one day I'll run across a beater with a good handle. I'll email you my address as soon as I submit this post. Many thanks
