A friend of mine just bought a 16.5" WWII on my recommendation. It arrived this morning and he loves the Kukri but it has a busted Karda :( . What can I tell him is the arrangement if this item arrives DOA?

He is going to email UB but I believe UB will be away for a couple of weeks.

You don't have very much of a problem. It's fine to ask in the forum, but email Bill and you'll find the answers.

I can't quite get around the fact that a busted Karda is an emergency and HI's reputation held by a thread.

How is it "busted" anyway?

Interesting that the Karda is broken.

happens....

Bill has plenty of extra kardas around (or so he has said before). Shoot him an email and ask for one.

Bill was kind enough to provide me with a couple just because I have big mitts. I still have the smaller ones if nothing else...I could mail them to him just to pass along Bill's good will.

Moff8?

Why not either fix the karda, or make him a new one since you were the one who recommended the khuk in the first place? :p

Got to be cheaper than Bill sending one to Scotland.

Or, find another little knifey thing for the pouch?

Or, put a plug on the top of the karda opening and have a 'secret compartment' to put spy stuff in?

Or maybe a cigar would fit nicely?

Or tell him that the broken kardas were special runs made by the last of the mythical jungle kamis whose dwelling places are now in the clouds of the Himalayas...and are sacred now?

Just trying to help here.

The Kukri was perfect as was mine, no slur against UB :footinmou . Thinking that UB was away I was asking how he could get a replacement quickly as we are going on a survival course soon.

The fact that he is back makes this thread void. Delete it if you wish.

The karda is bent and twisted - almost unusable in his opinion. I wish I had the skill to repair it but I don't.

Am I the only one who thought this Karda was endowed with mammory glands? I'm not always that quik on the uptake...

well if you put in a vice & wind it up it should be fairly straight & true.

no skill nessacary.

or put it on a wood block & tap it with a hammer.
