So I was coming back home from Aruba and during my bag x-ray they take my bag and me to the side. I had screwed up and put the SAK Tinker in my carry on bag.:o They took it and sent me on my way. That's what I get for packing last second. That was the only bad part of a fantastic vacation.:)

No sentimental value for this. I'm going to replace it right away. It was a very handy combination of tools to have in a pretty small package.

Probably tens of millions of Tinkers and other SAKs taken by security over the last twelve years. Ought to be a fairly robust secondary market for SAKs just from that source.

There is a robust secondary market on the bay. You can buy them by the pound. Then those buyers sort and resell individually or in small (4-5 knives) lots.

Way back, before all the "stuff" they do now in security, I was flying from SeaTac to Lax. I had been rock climbing so my pack was my only luggage. It was compact enough for carry on. Also, being me, I showed up maybe a half hour before departure. The pack was full of all kinds of metallic climbing gear. As was the protocol back then, they simply asked you if you have this that or the other thing in your carry on. I foolishly answered "yes" to the knife question. Security and a sheriff asked me to show it to them. It took ten minutes to dig it out. They said it couldn't be in my carry on. If I had more time I could have boxed it and put it in checked luggage. No time. The sheriff said he would do me a solid and mail it to me. So he took down my address and clipped the knife to his belt.
I never saw that knife again. Thanks

Sorry for your loss.

A few years ago we flew to Alaska from St.L. Long story short - I carried my Badlands Diablo pack on the plane. My ESKaBar was in backpack!!! It had made it through security. I put it in the same pocket for the return trip and it made it back as well!

I heard that they put them out for bid so someone can buy them and sell them again. I meet a guy at a local gun and knife show and that is what he told me and that is where he was getting most of his knifes.
