Many of you may have seen the latest issue of blade where they had an article on collecting custom knives. On page 27 they show one of the hardest to get .. a Buster Warenski early knife. The one shown is a 1975ish knife. Last week one of my antique dealer friends stumbled upon a very lucky find at an estate sale for a fellow going into an assisted living. He sent me a photo and asked what he should pay. I gave him some advice and he ended up picking it up for me. I won't post the price, but suffice that it was quite low for what these sell for. The one in the article is about 2 or three years older than mine. It was his first "BUSTER KNIVES" mark. The knife is in its original Buster Knives sheath. The owner bought it from Buster at a show in 1972 or 1973. He said he though he paid $200 for it.
Thought you guys would like to see it.

Nice oldie, I use to read about these old timers back in the day in the old knife rags. Nice find Congrats,

Probably the greatest knife maker ever. There are guys today doing work just as good but he did it first, with lesser equipment, materials, abrasives, etc.

He, and a few others raised the standards for quality. There are many makers today that can trace their knife making directly back to him, he helped lots of makers.

A real gentleman.

How did you get so lucky? Just let me hate for a minute.

Hoss
