Haven't seen it used under that name before off the top of my head, but I have seen some wood that looked very similar. I've even got a big chunk of it myself that needs used one of these days :) I got it for free, and was just told it was "ebony" don't know what variety.

Thats a very nice knife. You're coming along very quickly, the fit and finish are looking good and the overall shape is pretty nice. Looks like it'd be comfortable in hand :cool:

The wood is pretty interesting , almost looks like Black Palm , sort of.
