But I was only looking for a karambit

A folding one, waved. I looked around, considered options, and settled on an Emerson. Why? You all know - reputation for performance and functional design, first-rate materials and build...
The only questions were Combat or Super, SF or BT.

So how did I end up with combat-SF AND super-BT... and a fixed blade? And a trainer... OK, the availability of the trainer was one of the bonus reasons for getting an Emerson Kbit from the get-go, but the rest...?

And while I was shopping around I came across a knife I have been looking for and sort of forgot about - the SARK (partially serrated, SF). Most rescue knives are sheepfoot blades that are too broad at the tip to fit into tight spaces (body and webbing for example), and there is a sharp corner. I have been looking for a blade with a blunt, but not too wide tip and did not even realize Emerson made one until I started looking around for a Kbit. So I got a SARK too.

Now, I am a long-time spyderco user and that will not change - my grail knife is a PM2 with CF scales and S90V blade. And I have one and carry it every day, except when I am swapping out for my other PM2s! But I like to try out other knives too and have a bunch of nice fixed blades and a lot of folders, mostly spydercos. So why did I also just buy a Gentleman Jim? And why is the ETAK-A so interesting? Thank goodness I haven't seen one for sale... And that ZT-Emerson collab looks pretty interesting too!

But I'm done for now. I think. :D

Lycosa, sir: I can honestly say, after spending many days lurking here, I knew you were going to say that :)
But the ETAK looks more interesting to me!

CB: I agree on the need for pics. But my little cell phone camera does not do justice to these nice blades. Gotta figure out some other way... (sell knife, buy camera? Uh uh!)

If you find an ETAK-A, grab it. The A blade has been discounted. I have a Custom ETAK-B, amazing ergo's. Awesome knife!

Liking the Gentleman Jim a lot, but for also picked up a horseman mini-CQC8, plain-edged and stonewashed. I am REALLY liking this one and it has at least temporarily bumped my Spydie PM2 from my pocket to see how it feels/works as my at-home/around the farm EDC chore knife. Almost the same size as the PM2 and unlikely to slice-and-dice the way a FFG S90V blade does, but overall feels more robust, especially at the pointy end and plenty sharp enough. And just feels great in the hand! And waves! This could do some damage to my pocket but the wave sure is handy.
