Butane storm lighters - best brand?

Hey guys,

What's the word on butane storm lighters? I prefer to go for a refillable / long-lasting item rather than disposables. Is a Windmill Delta the best? The Trekker seems a little like overkill. Any others I should look at?

Thanks!

I do not know best...
But
I have a few Ultimate Survival Technologies Floating Lighter scattered around my different kits
They work well

I read complaints not working at 7000 ft

I have a Silva Helios. Seems to be the same thing as the Brunton Helios, just rebranded for the european market. I bought it during a trip to the Netherlands about 9 years ago, and it still works flawlessly. You can use it in gale force winds standing on the beach and it will light a cigarette no problem. I don't smoke anymore, so I haven't been using it heavily, but it has been refilled countless times and still works. I have seen quite a few negative reviews on amazon.co.uk, but at least MY lighter has held up outstanding. I paid about 20,- € if I remember correctly, and would buy it again.

I use these and buy them locally at a gas station:

You can get them at buylighters . com

In fact, I have one in each of the 6 BoBs and 5 in my INCH bag with 3 large cans of butane to refill them.

Not only are they good for being fire starters in the field, they will also help solder/de-solder wiring and copper pipes

In fact I have the Silva at the moment and it is giving me problems, so looking to replace. Its sure as hell not windproof and only ignites on every third or fourth try. I dont know if its the butane perhaps? Not sure what the shelf life of butane is but I've had this can for a good few years....

In fact I think the Helios is more of a rope burner, its not a stormproof lighter that kind of acts like a mini blowtorch. I like those :D
