I know you can not own a non-foldable knife over 3 inches, but I havent been able to find anything about butterfly knives, and I eould think they would be considered folded, and I live in Michigan so if any one would like to tell me, great, thanks.

According to some light research I've done using http://pweb.netcom.com/~brlevine/mi.txt and http://www.packing.org/state/michigan/ it would seem bali's are not a problem of any length under the law. Now if you plan to stab somebody, make sure its under 3" length
Any person who, with intent to use the same unlawfully against the person of another, goes armed with a pistol or other firearm or dagger, dirk, razor, stiletto, or knife having a blade over 3 inches in length, or any other dangerous or deadly weapon or instrument, shall be guilty of a felony, punishable by imprisonment in the state prison for not more than 5 years or by a fine of not more than 2,500 dollars.

I'm actually trying to figure this out, because I've had a 3.125" folder confiscated by Detroit police, but I was a little intoxicated (though I didn't brandish it). It would be nice to be able to carry a bali EDC, though I'm sure it would scare the bejesus out of sheeple!
