Butterfly knives in Pa?

From my research, they are illegal to carry. They can only be owned if you are a "collector." The legal definition is that you own 3 or more. I got this info from autoknifeworks. It's the website knifeworks uses to sell autos and balis. Check it out for yourself.
They are legal to carry. If you read C.S.A. 18.908 you will see no mention of the mechanism of a balisong described. This has been upheld in the Commonwealth v. Miles, where a butterfly knives was ruled not to fit the definition of a prohibited weapon.

I think you misread. What you posted pertains to autos only. Butterfly knives are legal to carry in Pa. Obviously you also need to be aware of local laws. For example, butterfly knives are not legal to carry in Philadelphia.

My bad. I had read that a while ago and thought it pertained to both autos and balis. Thanks for clearing it up.
Scissors are illegal to carry in Philadelphia. All edged tools are illegal to carry there unless you use them for your work and you are on the clock at the time.
And yet I can carry a concealed handgun there without breaking any laws. Philadelphia is an embarrassment to lots of freedom loving Pennsylvanians.
