NICE! Let Pemba know I found his watch. It's hanging in the tomater cage.

I don't have a Butterfly Sword, must ponder this bit of information.

I would like KLVUK #3 please. To clarify that would be KLVUK “C”

Holy smokes! A butterfly sword for $111?

If I didn't have three already, I'd be all over this one.

What are you waiting for, Bawanna? You need this butterfly sword - you know you do ;)

I know I do. I really do. I'm trying to be responsible here and under control but I'm getting weak.

I'm ashamed to admit that I'm running out of room to properly store and love my adopted HI knives.

I'm working more efficient use of space as we speak.

What’s up with all the KLVUKs? I was under the (apparently wrong) impression that he either wasn’t making khuks anymore, or not for HI...

Thanks, Doug

He hasn't been making as many of late, other Kami's have been making some.
Far as I know he never left HI. Hope to see him making them for a long time to come.
It could also be these have been in stock awhile and just now offering them up.
I'll ask Yangdu next time I talk to her.

Thanks Bawanna! A couple of you opined that I should look for a VUK to go with my 28oz, 18.5” WWII, ideally a KLVUK. Next thing you know, the place is lousy with them (15.5”, 20oz inbound ;^)

Doug

I don't remember if I opined or not but I will now. To many folks, even addicts like myself and a lot of others around here with a bunch of khukri's the VUK is still one of the first to grab when it's time to work.
Just a real handy knife for so many task. It's more what you would find in the hands of the people in Nepal. Nothing fancy but a real workhorse.
Be it Keshar's or one of the others, they are all good. It's just Keshar's main thing, his baby so to speak.

Uh... more Steve Tall KLVUKS! Man! What a killer run on KLVUKs!
These KLVUKs would be really tempting (on top of the ones I already have) if I didn't already have another one inbound. IMHO the best weight for these is about 18 oz (or 19 oz for the 16" ones).

I hope you got the DD on the sword. That's a lot of hand-made value for the money. I like the substantial grip and functional guard on these ones.

The last time I saw Auntie, I had suggested making a few changes to fit my needs as a pair.

I'll post if and when they are done.

DD on Butterfly sword! I just love the sweeping clipped tip. Kinda reminds me a bit of that chicken slayin Rajkumar Fighting Sword. The guard is cool too!

Uhhh? Can you elaborate? Sounds interesting!

Basically, it comes in pairs, so I'll need to have two made.

1. Top guard - the part parallel to the blade needs to be 2 1/2"
2. Bottom guard - will become an enclosed "D"' guard
3. The face of the blade needs to be 2" wide
4. The blade length shortened to 15"
5. OAL should be about 20 1/2" to 20 3/4"
6. No top swedge

It should look similar to this, except for the "D" guard of course, and the face a little thinner, not 2 3/4" as in the pic. I also like the clipped point on the HI knife instead, without the top swedge.

The pic is a blunt performance blade, but I would like a functional pair.

That is a true butterfly knife I remember back in the 1970’s in martial arts. I’d love a pair of those!

Sounds khul cul! Pardon my ignorance on them fighting swords but I wasnt aware of its history. Thanks for the enlightenment. I bet if you got a medium sized Chitlangi Bowie with a "D" guard it would be pretty close. Do it cul! Id love to see what the Kamis come up with. I think it a great idea myself. If I was going to order a custom Id put a little more "S" into it and drop the handle a bit more. Nonetheless It is sweet as is and i cant wait to try it! Keep us updated on your progress if you decide to pull the trigger:thumbsup:

See this article brother. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly_sword

Auntie said that Kumar is way behind on his projects, and she is asking Ram to take on this project, she will let me know the ETA, when she finds out if and when he can take on the project, I told her there was no rush on it at all.

We came up with the following:

Top of the blade be straight, and not curved to the clip point.
The blade should be well balanced as close to the guard, as possible.
The lighter the blade the better, but not fragile. 20 ½” OAL at about 19 – 21 oz would be good.
Fullers can be put onto the blade to help lighten the blade.

I am a practitioner of Choy Li Fut since I was 6, my teacher is a direct student of Lau Bun's in the
Fut San Hung Sing Choy Li Fut lineage. I always wanted a real pair, I'm hoping that HI can make that wish a reality. I am so excited.
