Hello Together

I am looking for a new edc knife. I would prefer a button lock with a flipper, but unfortunately I can't find one that I like. As a handle material I would prefer titanium. But wood or micarta would also be possible. I already looked at brands like Kizer, Civivi or Sencut, but found no model that I like. I would like the Protech malibu, but I don't really like aluminum handles. I am running out of ideas. Do you have any ideas? Price wise the knife should not be over $250.

I look forward to your answe rs.

I'd say you have massively limited yourself with those requirements and tastes. What knives do you like? What are the reasons you don't like the offerings from civivi like the cogent, conspirator, or chevalier?

I know I'm fussy about my knives. I don't like the pant clips on Civi's offerings, they look cheap to me. I like Kizer as a brand very much, but I already own several knives from Kizer and would like something else. Protech has aluminum handles and I'm not a big fan of them because aluminum scratches quickly. I like knives that stand out with the design something from the standart. I hope with my restrictions I have now not annoyed you.

I'd say don't worry about it. Folks around here are just trying to be helpful, and your requirements are just that. I wish you the best of luck finding that one perfect knife for you.

For what it's worth, the anodizing that ProTech does on their aluminum is pretty scratch resistant. I've dropped some of my Pro Techs (including my blue Maibu) and the aluminum has dented without scratching off the anodizing.

ProTech has also made Titanium versions of the Malibu and Mordax, but they're outside your budget. In fact I think any fully Titanium handled knife is going to be outside your budget, so if you really want TI, you should adjust your budget.

Civivi makes Ti clips for many models including several of their button lock knives. Check their website for which clips go with which knives.

Whatever you do, stay away from the Civivi Cogent.. it has been plagued with lockstick issues. The design is flawed. The Protech Malibu has been the best I’ve seen.
