button spring for Benchmade auto?

I've got a friend that has a 3" benchmade auto, aluminum handle and button release and he lost the spring for the lock button. Apparently he likes to take it apart to clean it and the spring went yonder way. Any body know where to get another? He's had the knife for years and doesn't want to retire it.

But if you don't have the paperwork to send an auto back, you are likely SOL

But if this one is gone, you can't measure it.
You may be able to measure the holes and spaces it fits into.

A piece of an ink pen spring will probably work.

Thanks, I'll suggest it, I haven't taken it down and he lives about an hour away. He mentioned it while we were at the range doing a little shooting.

I live in Oregon... Drop my auto at Benchmade and it's usually home in a couple days... A lot of Law Enforcement Officers that live in non-Auto friendly states send their knives to LEO's here to take them in for repairs etc....then the locl LEO's ship them back...
I'd personally just call Benchmade and have them mail a new spring...
