Any body have the website or name of the company that used to run these ads in Blade. Is it GL Pierce abrasives.

Does anybody order from this company. I know these belts are not the best and don't last a long time on blade grinding. Can you get some good use out of them or are they a complete waste of time.

I get the same kind of belt (36 grit) from Industrial Abrasive, buy a dozen, get another free. I use them exclusively on handles. Since almost any belt clogs up with handle material, I treat these as use-them-once-and-throw-them-away belts. I rarely get two handles from one. Steel eats them pretty quickly.

I have been using their 36 grit belts exclusively for a long time. Ask for the Paco 36 grit belt and they are as good as they come. My last order was for 8 dozen belts. Be sure and request Paco and you won't be disappointed. I included their 800 number on this forum a few weeks ago. Will post it again later.

Maybe it was Supergrit? I had heard that GL Pearce distributed the Carbo-Schroder line of belts. I never dealt with GL Pearce, but I have used Carbo-Scrhoder belts, and they are just about the best aluminum oxide belts I've ever used. Real inexpensive too, works on metal OK, and does a great job on handles.

I don't think GLPierce has twofers but I just got some zirconias(60/80/120) frm him for $3 a pop. Seem to do alright.

If it wasn't for my neighbors cats, I'd have to buy targets.

All I use are the 24 for 12 belts from Industrial Abrasive. They seem to work fine for me, but I've never tried any of the more expensive belts. I use 36 grit belts for cleaning up damascus. I use 60s and 80s to grind the profiles of my folders. I use 120s to thin the blade and to grind the bevels. I use 180s to clean everything up after the knife is together, and then I use a warn out 360 to smooth everything up. -chris

i bought these once, but it was'nt from supergrit or industrial abrasives. the ones i received took longer to put on than they lasted as soon as i touched the steel to them. Mr. fowler please do post the # for those paco belts. i would like to try them.

These are the ones I order: Y 248 AA 36 Grit Aluminium Oxide and I specify PACO material. These belts have lasted better on my steel than any I have tried. Nice thing about them, when they get dull, you don't feel bad throwing them away as the cost is not excessive. I find I wasted more time with expensive belts trying to make them work after they got dull. Using sharp belts keeps particle size large and I don't breath as much bad stuff as I would using old belts. Again just touch them with some bees was before grinding and they will cut better and last longer.Industrial Abrasives 1-800-428-2222. I have found them to be a good outfit to work with.
