Good job!

Edge up. slightly more horizontal cant, and I think this would be cool for kenjutsu class.... the samurai are probably spinning in their urns as I type ....:o

:thumbup: Nice work Dave! I'd need suspenders to keep my pants up around my waist:D

very cool! What would be the pros and cons for fold-over vs. double eyelet? which would be better for across the back carry?

RL

FIRST, ME FIRST!!

looking great!! i'll take a black and a olive in the double eye style..:thumbup:

i'll post somemore pics with mine in use!:cool:

WOW! Very nice! Flames would be awesome! :D

Are there any notable structural or strength differences between the two designs? I'm sure that the double rivet design is stronger, but is it noticeably stronger?

Holly Yawsa!!! That fold over looks awesome. They both look great, but the foldover looks perfect with the AK. Great job Dave. Looks like it would be a chore to put one of those together.

Very nice :thumbup: Did you mention in an earlier post that you would need the knife because of variations in manufacturing? email sent.

Only speculation on my part, but I would imagine that the fold-over style would be more comfortable to wear on the hip, since the rounded part would be more comfortable to grab with a free hand. The sheath with the rivets on both sides seems like it would be easier to secure to the back since it has so many attachment points available.

If you get one, let me know what you think. ;)

:D :thumbup:

Hi Everybody,

First of all thanks everybody for the complements, they did turn out really nice, even if I do say so myself :D

I can do them in either style fold over or double sided.

they are the same price for either style.

here are some pros & cons about each style.

Double row of eyelets;
pro;
1.fit is not as critical (more room for the blade to move around & allows for differences in grind)
2.more lashing points
3.more eyelets to attach other knives to.
4.a little easier to fit
5.can be used as a paddle :p
con;
1.a lot wider than the fold over style
2. harder to make because it takes more time to drill holes & attach eyelets

Fold over single row of eyelets;
pro;
1.a lot slimmer profile (skinny)
2.a little easier to make, less eyelets = less time
3. looks nicer (personal opinion)
4. Jerry has said this of my minimalist style " they are so slim I have to make sure the sheaths fit because I think they are for smaller knives." meaning the sheaths are not much bigger that the knives.
5. sleek looking :D
6. can be used as a secondary weapon :p
con;
1. tighter fit not much wiggle room
2. harder to make because of tighter tolerances
3. less attachment points

Hope this helps out, & if I can help further please let me know here or buy e-mail.

I will be having a bunch of fun with these, so look for some cool stuff coming up.:eek: :eek: :cool:

wow, thanks for the comprehensive reply! which would you recommend for back carry? Can you make them in tan? feel free to PM me with price info :)

RL

I think the double eyelet style would work best fot the bihind the back set up.
because of the width & the extra eyelets.
I have a beige (very very light tan) kydex I could make one out of ?

Let me know if I can help further.:)

Please e-mail me for purchase & or price quotes

5. Can be used as a paddle. :p

For some reason my daughter didnt see the humor in this one! :D ;)

Has anyone got one of David's AK sheaths yet? They look awesome.

Leatherman, did your daughter let you get one? :D

Yes, I received one yesterday, very nice, snug fit, no rattling. I got the foldover style with eyelets on one side.
