With all the new swords Busse has been releasing lately, I started thinking about how I wanted to carry them. I like kydex sheaths, and I've got leather frogs and baldrics, but what I really wanted was a quicker way to attach/detach the sword from my belt without having to take the belt off to remove the sword.

I sent Dave Brown an email and asked if he could make me something based on his dangler design that would hold the sword at the proper angle for a cross-draw. A few back-and-forth discussion emails and viola!

Now, the really cool part is this; Dave designed the Sword Danglers so not only can they hold the sword at a 45 degree angle for cross-draw, but they can also be used the traditional dangler way for vertical draw. Personally, I don't have long enough arms and a long enough torso to draw anything longer than a Mistress or 1311 from verticle, but it may work for you. :D

Dave, these ROCK!!!

Thank you my friend!!!!!

Outstanding job Dave , and I have said for a long time this is the best way to carry a sword. Especially if you truly use it like hacking through brush. If you carry it on your person this is the way to do it. Other than that it would go on my pack side.

Absolutely agree Russ, and the best part is with the TecLok you can pop it right off when you need to sit down for a rest! Love that part!!!

Nice job! Great now I have something else I need to buy.
I know, right? But at least these won't break the bank like some new piece of satin INFI I just MUST have!!! ;)

Very cool!

Impressive and useful.

That's a great idea!

Thats awesome!!
Can't agree more with you guys, Dave totally Rocks!!!

I've already said that about David.... He's wayyyy smarter than your average bear.

He's a smart, ingenious dude.I think that he likes being challenged, every now and then...great choice of kydex bender for this, or any other, type of project.

Looks great! I think I would prefer it to be attached to both sides of the sword's sheath instead of just the one side, that's a minor grip I know but with the weight of the sword being attached at four points would be better than just the two IMHO

Wow Thank you Brother, very cool pics I love them.

To answer a few questions/concerns/comments;

Outstanding job Dave , and I have said for a long time this is the best way to carry a sword. Especially if you truly use it like hacking through brush. If you carry it on your person this is the way to do it. Other than that it would go on my pack side.

I have carried cross draw on most "big knives" all the time.
This drop makes it be able to move out of the way when sitting where the tek-lok has it attached to your belt.

4 points would be a little more secure but since all sheaths are not the exact same width the attachment would have to be made on a sheath by sheath basis and every sheath would need to be sent in for fitting.
I use the standard tek-lok spacing on all of my sheaths so this is a universal fit and can be use on a NMFBM, AK, Gladius, or even a RMD :)
I also use .125" kydex to make these parts and that is what I make the paddles and IWB attachments on my holsters out of (he makes holsters ? :) ) and have no breakage problems with those over the last 15 years.
I also guarentee everything forever.

And a special Thank you for all the kind words I love you guys

Back to AK sheath making now :)

I have a large GROUP of BG AK sheaths I am working on.
Hope to have them done BUY this weekend if not sooner ;)

Thank you everybody.

***** Not and Advertisement for a group buy, that is long over. I was letting those who did get in on the group buy that their sheaths will ship soon ******

I have found the easiest way for quick attachment to a belt is simply a holster clip attached to the sheath.;)

That is very cool. How much does it flop around when you are walking / running?

I've only had it for a short period, but walking around the house and yard it's quite steady.
Because the dangler is flat it tends to stay close to your body and can be maneuvered easily.

I did a lot of SCA and Ren Faire events in another life, so I'm quite used to carrying sword on a belt or baldric rig.
You just have to be mindful that you have 29" sword on your hip (especially inside! )
You can comfortably rest you hand on the pommel and keep things under control.

If you run you're going to want to hold the handle, lest ye suffer the unfortunate twigs & berries back lash. :p
