Gents,
I have tried to warn buyers to not fall for the hype/descriptions used for these kukris (#6514000571). They still proliferate and this latest sale led me to comment again. These are not authentic WW I, WW II, world war anything. The markings are copied directly from an original MK II, but there was never a model like this ever issued. The frog is made from some flimsy leather/cardboard material and the ones I've handled are very poor steel.
The fact that someone paid $307 for this is sad plus the fact 8 other guys wanted this thing. These aren't even users and maybe worth $20, but they are still flogged on eBay and at shows for much more. Some unscrupulous sellers even claim they're authentic.

I will be putting one on my website and hopefully smart buyers will realize this isn't a real WW I kukri, but made in India in the last 20 or 30 years.

JP, thanks for being a stand up guy and trying to get the word out.

Maybe we should give repeated thanks to the Lord that P. T. Barnum died before he got a shot at E-bay.

I see that the "winning" bidder has been an ePrey member for less than 30 days. What's the old saw about rushing in where wise men fear to tread?
BTW, you've added a lot to the website since my last visit there - keep up the good/hard work.

There, for the grace of the cantina, go I.
Thanks to you John, and all the generous folks at the bar. Another round of green cans, barkeep! Put it on my tab. :D

i don't see how people fall for stuff like this :( :(
Real easy if you don't know what you're buying.:( That's why it's good too research and/or buy from a reputable dealer or individual.

Some people have more money than brains. Thanks for the warning John.

Amen. I know a guy who buys stuff at Wal Mart and then re sells it on ebay for like twice what he paid!

yes....tis a shame.

Shame on the seller

...and shame for the buyer :(

Given that the seller has high feedback, this could well be mutual ignorance. I have sent polite questions on other fakes (with references to educational threads) and seen them withdrawn. EPrey waters are deep for the newbe.

Still trying to learn.

Can't fault the seller on this one. He described it as is but carefully never claiming it was authentic. With over 2000 + feedbacks he knows what he's doing. To wit:
A Large Military Marked Gurkha Knife / Kukri Complete With Leather Sheath, my knowledge is limited on this type of knife so I will describe it as I see it, please ask all questions befor bidding, overall length measures 19 1/2" blade 14" polished with good edge no damage or nicks lots of ageing and light pitting, stamped with military marks and date 1917 see photo, sheath is hard leather with brass fittings lacing and leather belt hangers, large wooden handle with brass fittings, OVERALL THE CONDITION IS GOOD
