Question Buyer Question - Can We Request a Knife?

Hey there.
Is there a place where we can ask if anyone is selling a particular knife? I see there's a Wanted to Buy forum that's completely empty so I'm not sure of the rules over there.

It only seems empty...at your membership level you can only see WTB threads you create. Gold Members and higher can see all the WTB threads, since that level is required to sell.

I see. Is that the only place we can ask if anyone is selling?

That is the proper and only place to ask if someone is willing to sell such & such. All buying, selling and trading belong in the exchange & that is the sub forum for want adds in the exchange

Yes, unless you're looking for something from a maker with their own sub-forum...most have their own Buy/Sell/Trade threads. Same rules apply as the Exchange.

I just noticed here though in the exchange rules for basic members:

BASIC MEMBERS - Basic members are not allowed to post items for sale. You may post items for Trade in the Wanted To Trade Forums, or post requests for items to purchase in the Wanted To Buy Forums.

Should I contact a mod for this or did they change the rules and not update the page?

Any idea what the issue is? Do I have to make a number of posts before unlocking access? After flipping through the exchange rules I didn't see any reason why it would be blocked for me. (I know these are a lot of questions, I will contact a mod if you don't have an answer, thank you so much!)

I don't understand what the issue is. You can post in the Wanted to Trade forum, and you can post WTB threads in the appropriate forum, where everyone who is eligible to sell here can see what you want.

What is it you are wanting to do that isn't addressed by that?

Are you having trouble posting in either of those areas? As stated earlier you will only be able to see your thread in the wanted to buy-no other threads, since you don't have a membership that allows you to sell. Those allowed to sell will see your thread and all others. There is no post threshold you have to meet to post in the want to buy or trade forums
To sell you need a gold or higher membership
Explain what problem you are having and if needed a moderator will look into it.

You are a "Registered member", not a "Basic member".

The "Basic" membership is the least expensive paid membership. It costs $10 per year.

How do they go about purchasing a basic membership? When I click on the link Gold is the lowest available.

The system doesn't like the idea of downgrading memberships. It hides the truth that the are lower levels from you, anticipating that you will simply renew or upgrade. If you let your gold lapse, you'll see basic.
