I just ordered a Spydie Ayoob Plain edge and a CRKT Alaska Bwana from knifeworks.com. The Spydie I got because it was recommended and I love Spydies (especially the custom collaborations, and especially on super-sale!) and the Bwana I got because it has good lines and I wanted a new outdoors knife. Now please alleviate my remnants of guilt by blowing a third of my pay check within the first half hour of Novemeber!
 
Mildly. I jsut hope the Bwana is as shiny as it looks in the CRKT catalog. Other pics show the handles being dull, and that is a no go. It's just an impulse buy, and I always feel like that until the knives come.
 
I hear the Ayoob is one of the best folders right now. You did good there. You won't be disappointed. Besides, if you don't like it you could probably trade it on this forum for something even MORE expensive as desireable as that knife is.

I don't know about the CRKT. Lately, I think they just cut out a shape and bead-blast the blade and mass-produce it. Check it out closely and do us all a favor and review it in the knife review section of this forum for us.
 
The Bwana has a thinly ground satin finish blade. If you like a great cutting knife like a Frost's of Sweden Mora knife, you'll like the Alaskan Bwana.
What can I say about the Ayoob? It's one of the best folders ever made IMO. It's a superb blend of utility and self defense knife in one package. It also has a nice thin edge that's all about cutting performance. Melike a lot.

The finish on the Bwana looks like a satin or high-polish in the pics I've seen. Is this right? I hope so, becuase I HATE bead blasted finishes (hence my love for Spydies).
 
Now, thanks to Stiletto Raggio.... I'm out of my silly money for this month, and it's only the first day! Seriously... thanks for the heads up on the Ayoob. I've been wanting that model for awhile now. I actually got a chance to handle it, and while ugly... feels SOOOOO right in the hand! This will be my first Spydie.... probably my only spydie. Now I get to play the impatient knife waiter-for. Gonna drive me knuts until she arrives.

I have a (serrated) "Ayoob", and I can tell you that if you have not yet held one, that you WILL be impressed with its' "feel" and quality.:).
 
my advice..get a better paying job then on the first of the month you can buy three knives..:) being broke with a new knife in my pocket is the story of my life....
 
I just bought a Bagwell Bowie(Gambler) plus a kydex sheath from River City Sheaths,total price $195.00.I was in my "f**k it" mood.You only live once.
 
I'll be getting a better paying job ASAP, but it looks like that is going to be about two and a half years... There are some jobs that pay more than money, and getting my commission is just one of those bonuses. 2LT Raggio will be here soon enough, guys!
