Targeted buying of FG models:

Okay... I owned a couple of 110s in the late 1970s and early 1980s when I wasn't a knife person per se. I later moved into "tactical" knives and left the 110s behind. I'm warming back up to them for a variety of reasons...

I've been looking at them lately and really liking the FG (finger groove) models. I am thinking about even starting to "collect" these models (?)

Anyway, my question is this:

For a plain 110, I'm sure Walmart or Amazon or a favorite dealer is where I should be looking, but I don't see the FG models nearly as much. Where should I be looking? I know I can order from the custom shop, but as far as good pricing (are they the same as the others or slightly more) what are the suggestions?

Hi David,

You can find the FG 110's on ebay or Amazon or from a Buck dealer and yes you will most likely pay a little more for it than a standard 110 from Walmart. If you like the idea of having one built the way you want it from the available materials at Buck's custom shop it will be a few more $$$ and you can get a better knife with better steel.

Here is a few shots of some FG CS 110's.

I don't know about all of them, but I've never seen a 110 FG at any Walmart store I've been to. When you buy one from the custom shop, it's $10 extra for the FG's.

Hi David, welcome to the forum...Here's a gently used 1989 110FG that came in yesterday...for the same cost as a new Wallyworld 110...
425mod steel and Real wood (Macassar Ebony)...study the sticky threads above well...Ranger timeline, and 110 timeline...and they will give you an insite as to what's out there for older models...
Happy Shopping...
