I was wandering what the best benchmade folder is. I want a good strong metal, that can be used for a survival/utility knife.

THanks

I'd recommend the 710D2. (though I wouldn't call it "the best"...what do you mean by "best"?)

It's a proven design, very strong, a great lock, G10 scales and a D2 blade.

+1 for the 710D2.
I carried a 710 daily for over a year, AXIS lock is amazing! I even drove over it with my truck (accidentially) it was scuffed up pretty good, but it still worked perfectly...try that with a liner lock.

This topic is definitely in the wrong forum, but since you asked, my favorite Benchmade is the Rukus. My second favorite is the 710 in D2.

My only Benchmade knife is the Griptilian. I think it would make an excellent outdoors / survival knife. And the relatively low price makes it especially appealing. Good materials, not too expensive to worry about losing, good ergonomics, and the same axis lock that's used in the very expensive models.

Happy Shopping!

i to would choose the grippers either Doug ritters in s30v or d2 both are great knives i also like the skirmish's but for camp or survival id go with a gripper

Can't go wrong with the Griptilian. Either the regular version, the D2 Cabela's version or the Doug Ritter version (my fave!)

If I were looking for a Benchmade user, I'd have to consider the Ruckus, the 710D2, the Presidio, and then, the Griptillian (Cabella's in D2). All are fine knives, well made and very unique.

I've owned them all and currently only have the710 and Minigrip left.

i have the 710, the 940, the D. ritter, and i am awaiting for an old TSEK (should arrived tomorow !)...:D
You can't go wrong if you choose as survival knife the 710, the large D Ritter (or the griptilian), the large skirmish, the Tsek or the Rukus...

But how much do you want to spend?
Which kind of handle do you like?

You NEED to be more specfic. How much DO you want to spend? What handles do you like? What handles do you dislike? Best for what?? What are you going to use it for?

I really like my 710 in 154CM, but would prefer the leaf shaped blade of the Griptilian, either the 550 or 551 line. For survival, I would go with a fixed blade, but since you're looking for a folder, depending on your sharpening capabilities, my first choice of a Doug Ritter Grip would probably be a bad choice. An older 550 in 440C or 551 in 440C might be a better choice for sharpening purposes, although IMHO the 154CM is a better steel.

Get a Ritter Grip in S30v. The M2 models are sold out. I have a Mini Ritter in M2 and it holds an edge great but you really can't go wrong with S30v.

According to your need (strong metal, a survival/utility knife) , BM 806 is the best folder, IMHO.

D2 steel, Axis lock, large folder, bevel grind. But discontinued...
