I am thinking of buying a Nimravus 140 off of LApolicegear.com but I don't know what m2 steel is. It would also be nice if someone could tell me which one is better for a survival knife, m2 steel or the normal steel the nimravus 140 comes with. (does not chip or snap easily)

I think this post might be moved, the Nim isn't really a traditional knife. But in answer to your M2 question, I would get it. The general consensus is that M2 is a great steel, and it will perform better than old Nims ATS34 and the current 154CM. It is probably a misprint on their website though, the M2 models have been gone a long time. Call before you buy from them. Also, I had ordered a Kershaw mini Mojo from them several years ago, they backordered it, and no amount of calls or emails got through for me to cancel my order, they still sent it to me.

Yeah, it's probably a misprint or an ooollllddd model 140 like Silenthunterstudios said. I knew they made the Nimravus 145 Cub in M2, but I never heard of a 140 in M2 ( not that I've seen them all, of course).

That said, their 154CM is nothing to scoff at. It's easy to sharpen razor sharp and will stay that way long enough for you to forget about trying to compare it to another steel (futile).

The Nimravus is a Very nice tactical/survival knife, but not one I'd get for hunting/skinning.

I have a Nim in M2 and it is awesome. It is similar in design to the "bushcraft" or "woodlore" knives in that it has a thin blade and is under 5 inches. Yea it looks a bit tactical and I did'nt like the sheath so I had another kydex sheath made and I've field dressed everything from squirrels to whitetail and it has been super. I highly recommend this knife as a "all around hiking, hunting kind of knife". The M2 is amazing, just keep it clean as it is not stainless and it will rust. Hope that helps, Jim

That's not a misprint, the question is whether or not the knife is in stock -- probably not. I have a few of Benchmade's M-2 knives and all I will say is if it's in stock, buy it. M-2 is fairly tough and holds a great edge.
