What a wild ride this couple past weeks have been. Made a thread about what the classic spyderco is went out to buy a Endura. And I bought a PM2! lol
Then I went out again to buy a Endura on Halloween and bought a PM3.

Well hopefully today I'll have the complete set by buying a used military off craigs list.

The guy selling it seems like a really good guy, but he bought the knife used from a pawn shop. He's selling it to me for an excellent price of $160 (Cad) ($122 us)

Tl;DR
My major concern is what to look for to make sure it's legit and not a clone.

Here's his pics

I watched a vid on you tube but the vid was from 2014. I don't know if things have changed since then. Can you guys give me some advice what to look for? Is this model cloned?

The jimping in the second pic looks a little odd. Is that a trick of the light, are some of the ridges flat?

Thanks guys, I feel better about it now. The price is so good I was a little worried, but sounds like the guy is giving me a fantastic deal. I'll try to take a pic of all three knives later!

It looks okay to me...sometimes there will be a "second", but this is not one of them, IMO, although there is no pic of the rt side of the blade... Seconds...don't get a box, IIRC.
read this for future ref...

not sure if it was discussed in this thread or not but another thing you want to look at is make sure tehy're not factory seconds. meaning the knife is the same metal as they are for regular production but spyderco won't cover the warranty and they are not worth near as much. the thing to look for is on the spine of the blade near the handle spyderco puts a notch on the right hand side it almost looks like a triangle pretty consistant with all the ones I've had and recently sold. I need to look through some pictures and see if I can find some of what it looks like.

Ok I bought it!. Great guy who loves knives. He told me that the pawnshop had one more and gave me the address.

This one is missing the foam and papers though. Do you guys think its legit?

Looks good to me. And yes its a good deal assuming it does not have any functional issues.

Edit: i was talking about the first Military.

The second above is a franken from the blade of a blurple Military and the handle of a knifeworks cf/ti s90v. How much?

The second is $130 cad so approx $100 us. Was the scale replaced?

Sorry, I see what your saying the blade should be 90v not 110v. So either fake or a franked.

I like the g10 variant. That knife's strength is how light it feels in hand when you use it. Nothing compares

Besides the second knife being S110V rather than S90V, look at the spider logo on the first blade and compare it to the logo on the second. The first is blotchy, without the detail in the legs.

Heres a pic of the first one next to my para 3 that i bought at a store.

I hope the spyder is ok. But to be honest I don't know enough of what to look for.

I think im going to hold off buying the second. As its a little sketchy.

I think thats a lower quaility photo of the blurple. They both look legit to me and as others have pointed out the Ti/Cf is a franken millie that somebody blade swapped

Those look good to me, seems like a nice score. If you plan to use them you'll know pretty quick if the steel is legit... it will take a lot longer to sharpen than nearly anything else out there and certainly any clone's steel will sharpen a heck of a lot quicker than spyderco's S90V or S110V. Rough estimate but I would think it takes 2-3 times as long for the S110V or S90V than the S30V, holds the edge about that much longer too.

Good stuff.

$100 is a steal, again if the stuff (blade and handle) it is legit.

Edit: the blade of the second knife has definitely been used and it is not as pointy as the factory.

This one's legit but it originally came with s90v steel. S110v is possibly an upgrade. For that price I'd suggest getting it assuming the action is fine.

People have been swapping blades on military models for a bit.
